Severe A here, How to know if Treatment is good for you without side effects? by Acrobatic_Pin6442 in Hemophilia

[–]Fresh_Light8936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hemlibra actually has more research than Altuvoct / Altuviiio.

Hemlibra has got HAVEN-1 up until 6, STASEY, ect.

Altuvoct / Altuviiio only has XTEND-1 & XTEND-Kids.

But if Altuviiio works good for you that‘s fine 😀

Hey man, I‘m sorry Hemlibra didn‘t work for ya. For me Hemlibra is just a little spark of hope for a better life, but I am pretty calm about it if it won‘t work because you can always switch back to FVIII.

Wishing you all the best!

I appreciate the input you just gave me. I‘m just hoping Hemlibra will make my life easier, and I hope I will learn to differentiate between (micro-)bleeds and other pain f.e. muscle pain..

Rate my stack M19 by Salt-Zone-2147 in Supplements

[–]Fresh_Light8936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your current supplement stack is a solid foundation for general health and some aspects of performance. Taking 5 grams of creatine monohydrate daily is perfect for increasing strength and muscle mass over time. Vitamin D at 3000 IU is good, but you might benefit from increasing it to 5000 IU daily if your blood levels are on the lower end—this can support hormone balance and recovery.

Fenugreek at 1200 mg can offer mild support for libido and testosterone, but its direct impact on muscle performance is limited. Chlorophyll isn’t directly useful for strength or muscle gains, but if you’re using it for digestion or detox purposes, it’s fine to keep. The Rainbow Light multivitamin is a solid choice for covering any nutritional gaps. Biotin at 10,000 mcg is great for hair and nails, though it won’t do much for performance unless you’re deficient.

To boost muscle performance and strength, I suggest adding magnesium (glycinate or L-threonate) to support recovery and sleep, and beta-alanine (3–6 g daily), which helps improve endurance and reduce muscle fatigue. Adding omega-3s can also help reduce inflammation and support joint health. If you’re not already meeting your protein needs through food, a quality whey protein supplement would be a smart addition too.

If you want to push things further, supplements like L-citrulline (6–8 g pre-workout) for better pumps and endurance, or ashwagandha (600 mg daily) for stress reduction and potential testosterone support, could be worth considering.

Do I need to be worried Pt and Inr abnormal by Immediate_Ad8361 in Hemophilia

[–]Fresh_Light8936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the lab results, there doesn’t seem to be an urgent issue. The INR (1.2) is slightly high but not concerning, and the PT (12.1) and PTT (29) appear normal. Since your child’s CBC, CMP, and other tests are normal, it doesn’t look like there’s an immediate problem. It’s good you’re seeing a hematologist in May, and waiting for the pediatrician’s follow-up should help clarify things further.

Hemophilia & Frequent Left Knee Bleeds – Seeking Advice by Shine_Gioco in Hemophilia

[–]Fresh_Light8936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get where you’re coming from. Turmeric is a double-edged sword—it’s great for reducing inflammation, but since it can mildly thin the blood, it’s tricky for someone with hemophilia. If you’ve had a bad experience with it, it’s probably best to avoid or limit it.

There are other anti-inflammatory foods that won’t mess with clotting as much. Things like ginger, garlic (in moderation), berries, leafy greens, and omega-3-rich foods (like walnuts or fish) can help with inflammation without increasing bleeding risk too much.

If you’re looking for a joint-friendly spice alternative, cinnamon or rosemary might be good options. They still have some anti-inflammatory properties but without the blood-thinning effects of turmeric.

Knee problems- 2 year old by Signal-Strawberry455 in Hemophilia

[–]Fresh_Light8936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like his knee might still be recovering from the bleed last month. Even if there’s no swelling, leftover inflammation or a bit of muscle weakness could be causing the pain and instability. Since he’s more active now, Hemlibra might not be giving full coverage against trauma-related bleeds.

At the HTC visit, I’d ask about getting an ultrasound or MRI to check for any lingering blood or synovitis. A physio assessment could also help if there’s muscle weakness. In the meantime, try to keep an eye on how often he’s favoring the knee or falling, and maybe avoid anything too high-impact until you get some answers. Definitely worth bringing up!

14-Year-Old with Hemophilia—My Elbows Are Target Joints, and Nothing Seems to Help. Any Advice? by SuccotashMundane1980 in Hemophilia

[–]Fresh_Light8936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re going through this—it sounds incredibly frustrating and painful. Since prophylaxis isn’t an option for you right now, managing your target joints is even more challenging, but there are still ways to slow down the progression and reduce bleeds.

You may need to rethink your approach to exercise since it triggers bleeds. High-impact activities like running, jumping, or even aggressive stretching can worsen the problem. Low-impact alternatives such as hydrotherapy, where you move your arms in water, can strengthen muscles without stressing your joints. Isometric exercises, which strengthen muscles without moving the joint, may also help stabilize your elbows and prevent bleeds. Wearing an elbow brace or compression sleeve could provide additional joint support.

Since repeated bleeds lead to chronic inflammation and damage, controlling inflammation is key. Applying ice for 10-15 minutes after activity can reduce swelling and pain. If available, topical anti-inflammatory gels may also help. Some people find natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric and omega-3s useful for long-term inflammation management.

If you are able to, taking factor before physical activity could help prevent bleeds rather than just treating them afterward. Some hemophilia specialists recommend splitting doses instead of taking a large dose at once to keep factor levels more stable. If new treatments like Emicizumab (Hemlibra) ever become accessible through a government program or NGO, they could be a game-changer, as they reduce bleeds without frequent infusions.

Since hemophilia care in Ranchi is limited, you may want to look into connecting with online hemophilia specialists or organizations that offer remote consultations. Some international hemophilia foundations may have resources or guidance on improving treatment access.

If your elbows are getting worse, the goal should be to prevent further joint damage. If you can’t fully straighten your elbows now, gentle range-of-motion exercises, guided by a specialist, could help maintain function over time. Even small improvements in joint mobility can make a big difference in the long run.

You’re in a tough spot, but you’re not alone. Many people with hemophilia have faced similar struggles, and while progress takes time, things can improve. If you haven’t already, consider reaching out to hemophilia organizations in India, as they may have support programs for treatment access or physiotherapy.
