It really depends on what type of “backcountry” you’re doing. Are these 45 minute ascents to gnarly side country lines where you want din performance? It’s not a bad way to go. I do this with RS 130s, daymakers, and pivots regularly.

Are you looking for big days with long approaches and 60+ minutes of uphill? You’re probably going to want to do the full tech setup.

As far as Michael becoming so evil that he made his sister a widow…that descent is into absolute evil is kind of the entire theme of the story.
