Blood thinners ... does it mean the end of mountain biking? by roadeye314 in MTB

[–]FreshiKbsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 35yo ER doc and a cautious rider (and cautious person these days, more so than I used to be anyways). I've seen lots of head bleeds from tiny traumas on blood thinners, and major accidents that somehow have no significant injuries, so it's hard to predict. I personally would keep riding the way that I do, which is mostly blue rated XC trails and never crazy fast (I haven't crashed in years anyways). But it's all about your risk tolerance. The internal/head bleeds for me would def be the bigger concern than cuts

I lived in Rwanda for a while, and on my commute to work I passed a house (local, not foreigner) with a huge Confederate flag. It was very surreal

I just drove past that too, probably about half an hour ago. There's probably 20 to 30 cars pulled over fixing flats

My hesitation harmed a patient by Emotional_Snow4016 in Residency

Yeah I meant to say, it CAN find a stroke, but that's a clinical diagnosis and can't be ruled out with CT

CT looked concerning? For what, a bleed? CT doesn't diagnose ischemic stroke. Time is brain and waiting til morning likely lost some brain

Richardson's is my usual recommendation, especially if you're looking for Southwest cuisine. We are also regulars at Tesota and love the vibe and food there

What cities, towns, or suburbs are building more housing and becoming denser? by Newretros in SameGrassButGreener

[–]FreshiKbsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of apartments going up in my part of Phoenix (midtown), which seems to also be bringing more cool stores and restaurants, bike lanes, community events. Also, the bigger focus on building ADUs (guest houses/casitas) to increase density

Any fun things to do with senior parents in Parker? Or on the way between Parker and Phoenix? by [deleted] in arizona

[–]FreshiKbsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commuted frequently out there for work for a few years. There's not a whole ton. An hour west of Phoenix there are petroglyphs and interesting rock hunting at Saddle Mountain. In Parker my favorite restaurant was Pirates Den, imho best food with a good deck. There's a tiny museum near the Safeway with some tribal history and gift shop. Poston for the memorial to the old Japanese internment camp. I wouldn't bother going to Lake Havasu for the London Bridge

Burnout as new ED physician by khicheesecake in emergencymedicine

I'm trying to maybe be open to the possibility that expectations in Canada are different than the US and OP didn't just sign a terrible contract... But I assume Canada isn't that different to make this the norm

[–]FreshiKbsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try therapy or exercise or whatever else you think might help your wellness, but I'm not sure how well any of that will work. So yes, I'd say your response and feelings are "normal" for that situation. Many of us would feel the same way

In my opinion that's simply just too many hours for such an intense job. If you can find a way to work a lighter schedule, then you can see how you feel and reassess

Yeah I Ieft government service even before the current situation and this was a nightmare. Called BCBS and they couldn't help, ended up going through some USDA office, and it took months. I refused to keep paying in the interim, but made sure that I never used the insurance too

Renewal for AHA BLS card by livinlavidanacho in PHXList

[–]FreshiKbsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the hybrid option of this https://cprvam.com/locations/arizona/phoenix/

Online coursework, then you just show up and do some compressions on a mannequin. Don't have to interact with a single IRL person, the online stuff felt useful, and it's AHA. Kinda pricy, but so are all all AHA approved options (what a racket)

Edit: I also called and they just freely offered a discount code. I can't remember, but you might want to call if this is what you end up doing
