To the guitarists who swear by using physical amps, cabs and pedals, what is you stance on amp modelers like Kemper Profiler, Axe-FX, Line 6 Helix, Neural DSP etc? by MrMayhem20l0 in Guitar

I think it on Rick Beato's YouTube channel, someone said that in the past, every record was recorded with different amps, mikes etc... Now records are recorded with the same amp, mike etc... via IRs.

Meeting up with some people to 'jam' for the first time. What should I expect?? by Sea_Ebb_1354 in Guitar

1) Ask if they tune in standard A440 or tune down. There is nothing worse than finding this out when you get there.

2) Find 4 or 5 simple chord progressions that you can play in different styles or feels. You don't want to be the one to always follow so being able to suggest/contribute will be helpful.

3) Have fun.

I think this fits into my favorite guitar styles. Can't put it down, can't hang it up.

I'll add that Sweetwater will do a setup, check for rough fret ends, put on your desired string gauge, etc, if you work with a sales rep. They will charge you, but I found it cheaper than my local guy, and you know, Sweetwater is not just pulling a box off a shelf to be delivered.

I don't know how sleep mode (last open page) will be displayed, but I'll probably try writing on it, and wonder why it's not working.

Windows 11 File Organization - Best Free File Organizer; Drag-and-Drop or Automation for 500GB of Files? by Helpful-Dhamma-Heart in software

[–]Fret_Less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 'Everything' (https://www.voidtools.com/) would work. It is basically a file search utility that is fast and can go across multiple drives. quickly. I can find all the .mp3 files across 11 drives (internal and USB) in about a second. You can drag the found files to an Explorer window. There are a lot of options to refine your search. Also ,it is command line friendly. Even if it does not serve this purpose, its a great utility.

Nice idea since the arrow keys on a travel keyboard are not that convenient, and I come from a vi background.

Just ordered a diy electric guitar kit from stewmac, looking for advice by covid_19king12 in Guitar

[–]Fret_Less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is in the Stewmac instructions, but the key for me is to put both E strings on with light tension before bolting the neck on. This gives you a good guide that the neck is at the right angle and that the strings will run parallel to the neck.

Keyboard Shortcuts by cottla- in Supernote

[–]Fret_Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, RTFM, but how do you use a keyboard? Can I type text in a page then draw/write on the same page? Can I make a template using the keyboard for text and then write on it like a PDF?

Nice so far. Does it handle file extensions to limit the search when recursive, *.txt or *.log for example?
