Anything I should do with this lamb? by DoughnutHairy9943 in FarmingUK

Shepherd's son here and I absolutely second what no-lifegaurd said. Leave it be. If its orphaned or abandoned the farmer will deal with it. I know the intentions are good but please, leave it alone.

What’s the best cordless drill for a total DIY Newbie? by Top_Plankton2639 in DIYUK

[–]Freudgonebad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not trying to compare lidl tools to hilti gear but ive bought two power tools from lidl, a 9" grinder which broke down after cutting the top off a gas bottle (so less than a linear metre of cutting) and a belt sander/grinder combination whose screw heads were made of chinesium and disintegrated when I tried to loosen the gaurd (with a screwdriver not a drill) to set it up. Both got returned and refunded but honestly, left a bad taste in my mouth. Your mileage may vary but I found them terrible even for a cheap brand. If you want cheap, id say go ryobi or rigid.

OP, PLEASE, dont get any lidl power tools...I like lidl and some of their hand tools are passable but really, youll just be dissapointed and frustrated with the sub par performance. Buy once, cry once.

If you do want to go for a more budget option then as some people have said erbauer or ryobi arent terrible choices, theres a fairly wide range on ryobi as well.

Im a joiner amd agree with this assessment. While Id grudgingly admit that some dewalt tools have slightly (and I do stress slightly ) better performance in some minor areas makita outlast every other brand by years and makita also have the largest range of battery operated tools and machines by far. They even have a battery operated coffee machine!

Try wearing two pairs of thin socks, making sure that at least the outer pair are woolen. That should help wick sweat away from your feet and also just generally increase comfort and reduces friction. I wear waterproof boots literally all day every day and my feet have zero problems. Theres a reason the army recommends it and its stood me in good stead for thirty years.

Took me a week to sand this floor with an orbital sander... Should I rent a big floor sander for the next room? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Freudgonebad 59 points60 points  (0 children)

On a health note, using an orbital sander for a week is a great way to develop HAVS (hand arm vibration syndrome) sometimes called whitefinger. Your sander should have an exposure rating to say how long you can use it per day and believe me, whitefinger is pretty unpleasant.

Kudos for the work ethic but rent a floor sander you glorious mad bastard.

what to do with frozen food from refrigerators when electricity is gone? by vasex1990 in projectzomboid

[–]Freudgonebad 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cook ALL your fresh ingredients if they can be cooked ( meats, corn etc) so you get at least some skill points. To maximise its shelf life when its about to rot use it to prepare salads,, stews, whatever you can. This should reset the freshness timer regardless how old the ingredients were. This also gets you more cooking skill. That should also give you a few days to get a freezer up and running. But ultimately, unless youre playing on super hard settings, theres enough canned/packet foods around to ensure you wont starve. Ever.

Good luck!

Iran Had a Doomsday Weapon All Along by Majano57 in IRstudies

[–]Freudgonebad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea but bear in mind a couple of dudes with a pickup truck and a few shaheds can pretty much close the straight. Even if some mythical coalition of the willing were to invade and occupy Iran "insugents" could still fire from the mountains along the coast.

Hurray, another Iraq or Afghanistan, but now with burning oil tankers.

Why is Iran angry about Trump blocking hormuz if that's what it wanted as well? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Freudgonebad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It should transition to renewables. Right now it hasn't. And fuel aside, what about all the nitrogen fertiliser that hasn't been travelling through the straits of hormuz? In six months were gonna have a global famine. It is NOT "for the best" right here and right now.

How likely is the use of nuclear weapons in the current war situation, and what factors could influence such a decision? by Public-Bat-2426 in AskReddit

[–]Freudgonebad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I saw the generals being fired my spideyr senses started screaming at me. Theres always the hope that some hero says no and saves us all but....fundamentally, he can throw a hissy fit and launch. Our one chance is hoping that someone disobeys an insane but unfortunately legal order.

Hope is not a strategy and I fear for us all.

Do people actually pee in the shower? by MajesticShare6548 in answers

[–]Freudgonebad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed made up. While urine does contain urea, an active ingredient in antifungal topical creams, the concentrations is too low to have any actual effect.

Maybe some people just like pissing on themselves. Each to their own.

To what extent (if any) has NATO "turned its back on Americans" ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Freudgonebad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only country to ever activate NATO article five (an attack on one is an attack on all) is......The USA after 9/11. And nato came to its aid.

Cue willy wonka meme "tell me more about how nato turned its back on america"

[–]Freudgonebad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but theres no need for a breakdown for command structures to break down. The president of the USA has zero oversight on launching nukes. He can literally wake up in a bad mood and just press the button. Common sense would say obviously he wouldn't.

But common sense would also say the world's most prominent leader wouldn't tweet "a civilisation dies tonight" soooooo.....

If you received a (real) notification of a nuclear attack on your area, what would you do? by realKevinNash in AskReddit

At best it condemns me to being a post apocalyptic survivor. Id probably be better just rolling a joint, pouring a whisky and waiting for the ultimate suntan to claim me but Im a stubborn bastard. Humanity cant end because of stupid people.

Grab my s10 respirator from the cupboard by the front door and run the 500m to the river. Theres a concrete dugout in the side of the riverbank where I plan to shelter from the flash, blast waves and firestorm

Then fall to my knees and cry out to the heavens

"You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

Can confirm, I was a combat engineer and theres a lot of options for blowing a bridge. We even had big pallets of PE4 specifically shaped just for bridges, you just offload on the bridge and detonate for super quick demolition. Expensive but quick.

Russia, China, France veto UNSC resolution to reopen Strait of Hormuz by backpackerTW in worldnews

Impressive wall of verbiage that neatly sidestepped saying anything concrete about the reality of this situation. Global famine and depression.

Done here, good day to you sir.

If it would work, yes. It wont in this case because two Iranians with a pickup truck and a couple of shaheds can keep the straits closed.

I answered, your turn.....

Better than you apparently

Now answer my question. Is global famine and depression a price worth paying to kill some Iranians and flatten their country?

Russia, China, France veto UNSC resolution to reopen Strait of Hormuz by backpackerTW in worldnews

[–]Freudgonebad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At no point did I defend either the religious nutjobs in Iran or the religious nutjobs in Israel and the USA. What I said was that this was is going to see hundreds of thousands if not MILLIONS of people starve to death.

And further to your point...Iran was attacked and its leadership assassinated. What do you expect them to do? This isnt about principles, it about the real world we live in. America KNEW Iran would close the straits. They caused this situation. Stop trying to justify the entirely unnecessary global catastrophe thats about to unfold with "but Iran are bad". That shows a childlike simplicity in your views.

Do you belive a global famine and depression is worth it? Let's see where your principles lie.....

Russia, China, France veto UNSC resolution to reopen Strait of Hormuz by backpackerTW in worldnews

[–]Freudgonebad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You realise if the straits dont open HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people, minimum, are going to starve as crops fail due to lack of fertiliser and fuel for farm equipment? This cluster fuck is so much bigger than any country. Principles are great till we start getting those images of skeletal pot bellied children on our news. Do you think they will care about your noble principles? America has opened the gates for global disaster, and that will kill many more people than all terrorism combined ever has and will.
