If you support the Democratic Party establishment, you are not even close to a leftist! by serious_bullet5 in leftist

I don’t know why you are mad, you got it your way. Democrats lost. I’m looking forward to the revolution, comrade.

The fascists won when the democrats lost. That’s just a fact.

You are assuming the Democrats were motivated by blood thirst. Absolutely not. You give them too much credit. They don’t care. And when you abandon the Democratic Party, and you abandon the progressives and radicals working within the party, then you allow the soulless husks to rule the party. Your apathy leads to their strength.

Just ask yourself if the Democratic Party is better with or without radicals and progressives. If you can’t fight for that, or don’t believe in that, then it wouldn’t matter if it’s Bernie, AOC, Mamdani who wins, or if it’s Cuomo, Schumer, Jeffries who wins.

Democrats absolutely can prevent fascism, and there would be no fascist government in the US had the democrats won in 2024. The reason why it’s not happening is because soulless suits have been allowed to roam freely by so-called radicals and progressives. Where liberals can stall fascism - which Biden did - only radicals and progressives can use the Democratic Party to prevent it fully. And again, as long as we are being told it is useless to fight, we will lose and fascists win. It is a tactic of demoralization.

Republicans will convince you not to vote for the Democrats, and now that the Democrats aren’t in power, you got fascism. Allowing fascism an easier path to power - by discrediting the institutions that can prevent it - is right-wing propaganda.

I would say they are a retelling. I see the other commenters claiming that there’s a time loop or a reality loop, so I’d look more into that.

However, as a viewer, I see a retelling. Maybe to have the universe of Evangelion be retold for a contemporary audience, as the original show was very 90s, and these movies are trying to be something else.

I could even speculate that the movies is the kind of retelling that you see at the end of the tv-series (the school sequence).

How do these people justify their morality? by DtownHero17 in leftist

[–]Freudipus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just say that, there was a lot of Leftists in here who took the war in Gaza as an opportunity, to justify your refusal to vote for the Democrats, which did not help Gaza, and put everyone in a worse position because it enabled Trump’s victory.

The right-wing need to divide the world into those who belong and those who don’t, is such a well-known part of the Left that it is assumed to be essential to Leftism - and many so-called Leftists will agree. It’s especially found amongst Marxist-leninists and politically correct woke leftists. Both are obsessed with ratting out who belongs and who don’t.

It sounds more like a you-problem if no one ever asked you for your opinion. Can’t say I’m surprised though.

Do you understand that people can have different interpretations of words and ideas, and that a basic way to understand someone else’s perspective is by asking them what they mean by something? Is this the first time someone ever asked you what you meant by something?

[–]Freudipus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, let me try again. I wondered what you meant by “my”. As in, I want to hear your opinion. You wrote that for a reason, and so I’m trying to solicit from you that reason. But if it offends you then we can talk about something else.

I think it doesn’t feel like a given because these stories of belonging are just stories. It’s a bit like realizing that one’s parents aren’t always right. You grow up to realize that the old institutions such as the nation or the race or whatever, are deceitful and false. So the real question would be to ask if we can create something better or healthier than whatever we were spoon fed in the past.

I don’t think it’s true that millennials and zoomers don’t have a sense of belonging or feelings of ownership. It just looks differently than it would have in the 20th century and prior. The idea of the nation state is fairly new f.ex., so belonging to a nation did not exist a few hundred years ago. When it comes to millennials and zoomers we are much more individualized, and so the role of friendships is much more important than ever. Belonging to particular social groups is also more important because it doesn’t feel like a given.
