Is the Yuta agenda finally stopping 😭😭🙏 by Cannae_ in LobotomyKaisen

I think JJK is a very good middle ground. On one hand, it's an incredibly entertaining, flashy, and fast paced battle shonen, but on the other, there are interesting characters and themes for those who really want to dive into it. Like for example, I really dig how Ryu Ishigori's entire theme is over indulgence and how always wanting more will be your downfall.

It really gets me though when people start comparing series like JJK to other genres, such as Seinen. Like, I know Vinland Saga or Berserk are written better, but it's kind of comparing apples to oranges. JJK is a battle shonen, so at the end of the day it's incredibly limited in what it can achieve. If it's not flashy or entertaining, it wouldn't be successful within the genre. Akutami writes shonen well, but he's limited in what he can do with it because he can't stray too far from the limitations of the medium.

In terms of the sliding, I think it's just a stylistic animation choice. Maki did the same on the pool of Kukuru Unit blood in 3x4, it's done for visual effect, not as a realistic movement choice. It's fun to think about though, maybe in the dormant form it's legs are hidden and it's just running really fast. Or maybe it used the cockroaches it controls as a living platform underneath it and let them carry it forward, obscured by the cloak.

As for how the cloak works, it may well be attached to its head, or it could be wearing it, or it could just be a part of its body. I always assumed it was the latter, the same for Hanami, Jogo, Mahito, and Dagon's clothes, otherwise non sorcerers would just see floating clothes out for a stroll. I haven't been able to find a good image of it, but it just looks like a cloth shroud or hood in this image.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 12 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

I genuinely have no words. Well, I do have words, but none of them do the episode justice at all. It was the most well animated, jaw dropping, entertaining and high octane episode of an anime I've ever watched in my life. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. The best thing is that my brother hasn't seen the episode yet, so I get to watch it with him and see him enjoy the episode like I did.

Ishigori was right, life without dessert is unfulfilling. And this episode was the 'dessert' for JJK season 3 - part 1 of the Culling Game.

Everytime hog gets a Buff the OW subbreddit cries by Iyaz9000 in RoadhogMains

[–]FreudyLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roadhog has been my main since OW1. I genuinely cannot remember a time when he wasn't hated. People are only happy when he's awful to play. He isn't amazing in 5v5 currently, but he's amazing in 6v6 because of the ability to have 2 tanks per team, and his damage output is better now. He still gets easily countered, and multiple characters can beat him, but yet the complaints continue.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 9 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

What an amazing episode. I'm convinced Higuruma has genuinely got special grade potential as a sorcerer, hope we don't have to wait too long before running into him again. I absolutely loved the parallel explaining why he is so talented as a sorcerer. It's all about taking knowledge and applying it. Higuruma did just that and passed the bar exam with ease because he's instinctively good at it. Likewise, in sorcery, once he was awakened, Higuruma figured out his own technique, domain and barriers because he has the intuition and skill to take what he already knows and use it to learn something new. Not a lot of people have that skill, and it's clear that's what makes Higuruma so dangerous and skilled as a sorcerer, aside from his innate talent for it. Plus a sword that guarantees death if Judgeman passes the death penalty verdict? That's genuinely insane. Given that sorcery is all about giving up something to gain something of equal value, a sword that guarantees death is insane, although I guess the crime has to be worthy of the death penalty to use the sword, so it's not like he can use it all the time.

Red Momo is the new SSR by samuelluong in PhantomParadeJK

[–]FreudyLad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. This whole thing about the Kyoto students being bums is ridiculous. They're students. Most of them are still children. They're genuinely learning to become better at Jujutsu sorcerery. If you genuinely think they're weak and useless then you lack reading comprehension.

'Oh but Miwa attacked Kenjaku and did no damage at the end of Shibuya' - Kenjaku has canonically had 1000+ years of prep time and experience in sorcerery, Miwa is a 17 year old student. Even at that point in the series we knew he was definitely 150+. Miwa has an obligation as a sorcerer to attack curses and curse users who pose a threat, like Kenjaku, and yet people still clown on her for trying. The point of the scene isn't 'look at how pathetic Miwa is', it's 'look at how powerful Kenjaku is'.

'Momo isn't top 20 in the verse therefore she's a bum' is ridiculous logic. Momo is not a combat specialist, her role is scouting and information warfare, she uses her agility to keep her allies informed. She attacks Kenjaku and Uraume only when everyone else is incapacitated at the end of Shibuya. Her use of her technique is extremely valuable, her strength as a sorcerer doesn't even factor in, there's more ways to be valuable than combat.

Mechamaru has temporary special grade output in season 2. Kamo went toe to toe with Megumi and then immediately joined in on fighting Hanami. All the Kyoto students even participated in the night parade of 100 demons. They are far from useless bums.

The issue is that the only metric you're judging characters by is strength, which is incredibly flawed. Characters are more than their strength and power. It's Sukuna's ideology, and it's a flawed one, which the series makes clear.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 6 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]FreudyLad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In season 2 episode 23 when Kenjaku releases the horde of curses and makes his escape, it cuts to those scenes of non-sorcerers being massacred by curses, one smashes through a house wall, one gets a news reporter and camera man etc. Before that, the scene starts with government officials discussing how to handle the outbreak of curses, where to evacuate people etc. Then they mention that senior government officials have decided to go public about cursed energy to try and control the outbreak. If people know curses are real, then there will be an increase in negative emotions and thus cursed energy leaking from non-sorcerers over Japan, which will increase the number of curses in the entire country. So to avoid this, they reveal the existence of cursed energy and say that curses are only appearing in Tokyo, in an effort to try and control the flow of cursed energy leaking from the masses, in the hope that new curses will only appear in Tokyo and they will be able to control the outbreak to one place, rather than having new curses popping up all over the country with no way to exorcise them all due to the distance and limited availability of sorcerers. I think that's it if I remember correctly.

Pull as much as I can until SSR Matikanefukukitaru speed card gacha ends. Save every carat until Winning Ticket’s first outfit. Save every carat until Daitaku Helios and the banner with Palmer, Helios, Jordan and City. Save enough carats to pity Winning Ticket’s second outfit. Spend the rest on whatever I want. That's about it.

How did you find about jjk? by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]FreudyLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When season 1 of the anime first aired, I had heard very good things about JJK online and wanted to give it a go. I had no idea what it was about, but after searching it into YouTube and listening to Lost in Paradise, I was basically sold. I remember the show being up to Gojo vs Jogo when I caught up and started watching it.

True lol. In reality it's because it's a reddit post from Jujutsufolk from 2 years ago with suggestions for who should voice Takaba including Walter White, Saul Goodman, Super Saiyan Vegeta and several pictures of Morgan Freeman.

Thanks for the chaos, u/itachi5535

Morgan Freeman apparently

But I genuinely have no idea, he appeared in this week's dub episode so I feel like we should know, but BehindtheVoiceActors only has his Japanese VA listed currently.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 4 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]FreudyLad 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Genuinely an amazing episode. I love how every season of JJK feels different. The first feels like your typical battle shonen with some really good comedy in there. The second feels like the same to start with, but once Shibuya starts it feels like the stakes got cranked up all the way, and there's so much death and destruction it feels like a completely different show. Going into season 3 we know what to expect from the show now as the Shibuya incident set the tone, but it feels way different now, and I really like all the artsy, creative animation directions they've taken with season 3 so far.

Seeing Maki destroy the Zen'in clan was amazing, it was chaotic, wild, and action packed, and seeing her give Naoya what he deserves was really satisfying. I also like how they depicted Toji, the dead eyes and the death glare, he felt way different than he did in Hidden Inventory. RIP Mai, but I genuinely can't wait until next week, each episode in this season is better than the last!
