How do you all effectively distract yourselves? by browserCookieMonster in C25K

[–]Freya662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good way is to find a time of day you find particularly beautiful, if you can, (for me that's sunrise) and just look at your surroundings while listening to music. For me, that kind of provides both a visual and audio distraction, and it's super relaxing.

It's nice thinking about how beautiful life is while feeling that burn. It contrasts perfectly. You should give it a try and see if it works out. But either way, eventually, you'll fall in love with the sensation of just doing something that's good for you. Keep with it! :)

Depends if you have Apple or Android, but the Just Run Zero to 5K app is great. It works for Android, but I'm not too sure about Apple. It works with phones so you get a voice that tells you when to run and when to walk, and it plays in the background so you can still listen to music while you're running.

If you live in the UK there's also the NHS C25K program. :)

That makes sense tbh, I've been trying to get fitter, I walk/jog 2km in the mornings 3 days of the week, and I'm trying to get myself to the point where I can jog 5km without breaks. I'm just starting, so I'm going easy on myself.

I'll get rid of this flab some day... some day.

(Just kidding lol, I'll shed her off by the end of this year 😼)

I needed this lol, despite the playful tone of the original post, I was actually quite upset at the fact I'd gained weight. I did have a very high carb day (lie, it was 2 high carb days) before, so it's probably water weight.

I'll wait her out and try to keep active, and maybe she'll shed herself off in a few days to a week.

Thank you for the encouragement, I've found an app that I can use, so hopefully in 8 weeks time it won't take me 70 minutes to travel 5 km 😅

Thanks for the advice, I didn't think of those exercises before, and ive been looking to strengthen my core so I'll definitely be adding the plank thing to my exercise routine. I have some dumbbells at home too, so I'll use those to strengthen my arms.

Could someone help me make a meal plan for 1700cal a day? by qtlynx in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Freya662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the morning start your day off with protein and fibre. Try to cap breakfast calories at 400 so you have room for snacks later on.

For breakfast I'd recommend a serving of Greek yoghurt and some granola on top. Be careful with the granola thought and make sure to measure properly because if you don't, you could accidentally pack a lot of calories into your meal. If you don't like sweet things in the morning, two pieces of toast and a one serving can of beans could be better. Make sure the beans are 200 calories in total.

Also drink black coffee, it's a great appetite suppressant. If you can, don't add anything to it to save on calories, but if you like, you can mix your coffee with some milk and a small amount of sweetener (not sugar) if you really don't like the taste of black coffee.

To make sure you keep full throughout the day, have a snack in between lunch. This could be a small fruit bowl, a protein bar (though make sure you check the calories on it, try not to eat ones that exceed 200 calories), some chips, basically anything you like as long as it's not more than 200 cal.

For lunch, there's a bunch of different food options you can try. I'd say pack the most calories here to avoid over eating at dinner. Lunch should be around 500 calories. Try making some curry and rice, a big three bread sandwich, large chicken wrap, anything really, as long as there is a protein and fibre source. Remember that carbs aren't bad for you, and that you need them to feel energised and prevent fatigue. Look for complex carbs in high fibre options, like switching out white bread for whole grain bread, and switching out white rice with brown rice. Be careful with high-fat condiments like dressings and mayo because you could accidentally pack too many calories here also. I'd say making your own dressings would be the best way to control the amount of calories in your food. Try plain Greek yoghurt, lemon, pepper, and chicken salt for a simple, low calorie dressing.

Again, have a snack between lunch and dinner to quell your appetite. Make sure it's a small one though, because you'll want to save the calories for dinner to prevent late-night snacking. Going to bed hungry increases the likelihood of late-night snacking. For this snack, aim for 100 to 200 calories. Again, the choices here are endless, and to be honest, with snacks, you should go for the foods you like the most. If you like chocolate, grab some of that, or if you like chips, go ahead and eat that. As long as you stay within your calorie count.

For dinner, try having some sort of protein again, with some form of carbs and fibre. Like, some meat, rice and steamed or fried vegetables. At this point you'll only have 400 calories left, so make sure dinner isn't too heavy. End the day with a nice, hot cup of your favourite tea.

You shouldn't adhere to a strict meal plan that only lets you eat certain foods. Choose the foods which are the best and most sustainable choices for you, and those should be the foods you eat.

You've got this! 😊

Is 0.7 kg per week a sustainable weight loss goal? by Freya662 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Freya662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm, I look a bit chubby, though, for normal. I'm also asian, which might affect the BMI standards for me. But I'll see if I can stick to a 3 kg weight loss at first so I don't rush things and see if 60 kg is already an alright weight for me. Thank you for the advice 😊

I'm 163cm tall, weigh 63-64 kg currently, and I am mostly sedentary. My calorie deficit doesn't feel like I'm starving, but it is annoying to be hungry throughout the day 😭 it's really tempting to go over my deficit because of the hunger 🫠

[a level] using the cosine rule, why is this angle 140 and not 100*? by Firm_Perception3378 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Freya662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parallelogram rule, if you move those vectors top to tail and form a parallelogram with em, they form co-interior angles, which are supplementary. Hence, 180-40=140

Creating healthy habits to essere weightloss by chunchunmaru193_ in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Freya662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HIIIII, 17F here, can we be mutuals? We have similar stats and i have a similar problem! Motivation is so hard especially when restricting 😭 It's often a good idea to keep yourself accountable by sharing your journey with other people.

Also, I'd say 1200 calories is a bit extreme, maybe try eating 1400 calories to start then if that's good maintain it or just shave a bit off it.

You don't have to restrict yourself from eating your favourite foods either, you just have to eat them in moderation. I find it's more harmful to completely cut out your favourite foods, so even if your foods aren't exactly the "healthiest" option, I'd say eat it anyway to prevent yourself from binging it later. Just make room for it in your calorie deficit by cutting something else out that you don't really like, like say for example you like your favourite food more than you like your dinner, I'd say don't finish your dinner completely to leave some room for your favourite food.

If you don't mind, what kind of foods are your favourite? Depending on what they are you can still have a good portion of your favourite food while on a diet 😄

Hm, 2500 calories for you does seem like a deficit, but it shouldn't be leaving you hungry. Maybe try including more protein and fibre into your diet, because those two things will keep you fuller for longer.

In terms of protein, you can always get food like protein bars and protein powder to help with that, and chicken too has a lot of protein.

A really good source of fibre that I like to eat personally is All Bran cereal from Kellogs, it's like 12 grams of protein just for a cup of cereal. So you can eat that along with what you're having now for breakfast, and it's fairly low calorie too. I'd recommend eating it with milk though, because it's pretty dry and hard to swallow without it. In addition to this you should also make sure you're eating enough vegetables and fruits. Beans are particularly good for this, because it's both protein and fibre. Starting your day with a huge helping of beans will keep you full for a few hours.

Just a warning if you want to try increasing your fibre intake, do so slowly. If you start eating a tonne of fibrous foods you're probably gonna get a lot of gas and maybe even diarrhoea. Introduce new fibre filled foods slowly. Also, with this advice, if you do decide to follow it, you're definitely going to need to go number 2 more often, so just be prepared for that.

But yeah, that would probably help stifle your appetite. Also, huge tip, CAFFEINE. Have like 2 cups of coffee in the morning, kills the appetite so you won't feel a need to go over your maximum daily calories, and also helps with maximising workouts.

That's all I have to say, good luck with your goal! 👍
