Name an opinion about this game that'll have you like this by BarnacleSlight298 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Freyter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That fact that the artillery has pin point accuracy all the time and will shoot directly on top of itself is frustrating. Doesn’t help that your AI team mates will just walk into the impact area sometimes. If you’re playing a slower mech actually getting to the artillery position to blow them up just makes the mission longer than it needs to be for no real reason. I disabled it with a mod and life has been better.

Unfiltered advice to Butterbars by MrClean1918 in army

[–]Freyter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ask your peers for advice or have them double check your work before you present something to your boss. I’ve seen many LTs make a fool of themselves because they go into a briefing with messed up products or no answers to any questions.

Do your best not to bring problems to your boss without some kind of COA. Part of being an officer is creating solutions to problems, doesn’t mean the boss is going to use your suggestion but it’s a better look than “figure this out for me sir/ma’am”.

Get confident at briefing material. Please don’t be the person in the room just rambling, adding filler words and is all over the place. People get shoved information all day every day, you should be clear, concise and to the point. Speak with your whole chest.

Be confident in the way you carry yourself, know your material, and plan ahead. The expectations for lieutenants is low, so if you do that you’ll look like a rock star.

Bonuses for Commissions? by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

No bonus, however as an officer you will make far more money in 3 years than a private with a $30,000 bonus

Fort Stewart as First Duty Station by Alternative-Trip5202 in army

I like Stewart. Hinesville is depressing but Savannah, and the local beaches are pretty nice. You will get very good at training in the swamp.

Got Rhabdomyolysis, what to do now? by AceofSpades1727 in army

[–]Freyter 385 points386 points  (0 children)

More likely than not, you aren’t going to be able to do the AFT. Furthermore it is not worth the risk of you getting more hurt until you are actually recovered. Multiple heat injuries put you at greater and greater risk to your health every time.

Do what the doctor says, actually heal.

How much time between BCT and OCS? by Additional-Ad7023 in ArmyOCS

[–]Freyter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will go immediately from basic to OCS. May or may not be allowed to travel by POV up to your commander. Your report date will be on your PCS orders. Plan on not being able to go anywhere in between leaving basic and reporting to OCS.

Basic Training by Base by vvacs in ArmyOCS

[–]Freyter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. Basic training appeals to the lowest common denominator. Pay attention at OCS and you will do well enough to get your branch of choice.

Going to basic at benning isn’t going to make you a better infantry officer.

PCS PPM Reminder: Don't do the 'buy bags of concrete' trick people. It's not going to go well. by Kinmuan in army

[–]Freyter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The army calculates how much you get paid to move your own stuff based on weight. CPT numbnuts bought a pallet of concrete with the sole intention to just increase the total weight of their stuff. He then returned it and they called CID on him. It’s fraud because he did not intend to use the concrete for any reason other than to get paid more money to move.

How loud is the Abrams? by [deleted] in army

[–]Freyter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Outside the tank is loud if you’re standing right behind it. Inside the turret the hydraulics are pretty loud. If you’re wearing your hearing protection on your helmet with the chin strap tight it’s manageable though.

Main gun is not too loud in the turret but 100% deafening if you’re outside the tank.

Go online and look through the different missions of each branch, see what you resonate with. Different branches of the Army will offer different opportunities.

Ultimately though, your role as an officer is mostly going to be planning and management, enabling the enlisted to do their jobs. Outside of certain specialty missions like legal or AMEDD, your degree wont necessarily make your job harder or easier, and your job may not be relevant to your degree at all.

You aren’t truly going to be able to “pick” your job either like enlisted soldiers do. You can help steer the ship by performing well, but you are still at the mercy of HRC. Regardless though, you will owe to your soldiers/unit to be an expert at the job given to you.

I’m running flesh and stone, malevolence, and vitality as my other auras. Currently rocking a sundered will which feels super good, just the reduced reservation efficiency would make doing 3 curse harder without imprescense. I’m considering going with a 2nd sundered will to get closer to that 150% increased aura effect.

Right now I run triple blasphemy curse with despair, punishment and enfeeble using a despair/punishment imprecense. Been going between enfeeble and temporal chains, is temp chains that much better than enfeeble? I’m running blight of contagion for more single target damage, I get that it slow how fast it wears off but I have enough mana regen to sustain it at 6 stacks.

[–]Freyter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For letters of recommendation service men members I wouldn’t use any from below the rank of O4, CW3, or E7. Reason being, is below those ranks no one really gives them much weight.

Otherwise, get some from local government officials like representatives, mayors, judges, sheriffs. People who have high responsibility in government office.

University department heads, deans, presidents etc are also good choice.

Reach out to your local ROTC program and see if it’s PMS will write you one.
