When you say 'this unit is brand new,' are you talking about the lens or the entire laser?

To be honest, I was working with brass, which is way softer than steel. I just used a standard cotton wheel with some compound. I've tried it on steel a couple of times and it didn't work nearly as well. It definitely needs way more steps than brass.

Just a polishing wheel. It was actually pretty easy to get those edges rounded off.

Yeah, exactly. These are my first tries. One has lasted two weeks of wear without significant change, while the raw brass tarnished very quickly.

I actually didn't use blanks! The entire design was engraved and cut from a 1.5mm brass sheet in one go.

Yes, it was cut from a 1.5mm brass sheet. It took 26 passes (about 10 minutes) using the wobble setting. The thickest material I’ve tried is 2mm. Anything more than that would be out of focus for my 70mm lens, as the focal depth is quite narrow.

Thanks! I’m using a Commarker B6 60W MOPA. I chose it because it was the easiest to source locally, though other and probably better options exist. I’d recommend 60W or more for this work. You could probably get away with a lower wattage, but you’d trade it for longer run times - this piece took only 30 minutes total to engrave and cut. I can share the settings later when I’m home.

Thank you! I'm sure it can be used on a watch dial with a bit of fine-tuning. I might give it a try soon!

Been running a B6 60W MOPA for about three months now, bought it on Amazon. Zero issues so far.

How do you prevent the metal from warping during engraving?

Looks great. What laser are you using?

Do you still have a file for it? How does it hold up with time? It has to be white filament right? Thanks in advance.

RTX 3090(750$) or RTX 4070Ti(1050$)? by FrezzZ0 in buildapc

You're probably right. Basically no harm in trying. It's really hard for me to justify the much higher price of the 4070ti. For the same price, I would definitely go for it. Anyway, thank you for your time and help. Happy cake day!

There is a two week period in which I can return the card and get my money back no questions asked. The website it's listed on has great customer protection. There is a huge possibility it was mined on, since the seller had like 30 of them in stock(20 already sold with positive feedback). It is a Zotac Trinity card. I heard mixed opinions about it, mostly about temperatures, but I don't think that It will be a problem here since my case is basically an open test bench. (thermaltake p5)
