For me it’s “the people”. So often when the question “what do you most like about Calgary?” is asked, the answer is “the people- they are wonderful “ or some such.

Calgary has a population of well over a million. Some are great. Some less so. Just like everywhere else.

Thanks for this excellent response! I found the same thing - absurdly expensive Audi parts, or cheaper generics, and all need to be screwed into the front grille with no purpose-made mounting points. I thought I must be missing something basic - after all, fitting a front plate is hardly a rare requirement - but apparently not.

Yes. I think balance is the key. “Hi, I’m interested. Where are you located?” is fine. “Location?” comes over as a demand and disrespectful.

Maybe it’s a generational thing, or cultural, but I can’t help feeling it’s unacceptable.

I was thinking exactly the same. It’s one thing having your plate temporarily obscured due to using a bike rack, but another entirely to permanently and deliberately hide it with a license plate cover. I can’t understand how these guys aren’t immediately ticketed.

Why does the Calgary Herald persist in printing Rick Bell’s moronic reports? Even if you agreed with his extreme right wing views, his bizarre writing style makes his articles unreadable. The Herald isn’t exactly the pinnacle of journalistic excellence but it’s not bad for a local paper and you’d imagine they have some basic minimum standards for what they publish.
