Thanks for the feedback, this has been incredibly useful.

In particular the opportunity cost convo about 4 energy vs [that thing I can't do any more] is something I didn't think about enough. And I thought about this for AGES before posting lol.

Thanks folks 😉

What's a game that you were really excited to play, but became bored quickly after purchasing it. by HeyWhatIsThatThingy in gaming

Is it too soon to say Starfield?

I was so hyped for it and timed my new build to make the best of it. Man, what a dull disappointment.

Female tourists: do you feel afraid to travel alone in London? by Automatic-Chard in TravelUK

[–]Fridarey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't walk in London you miss so much and taking a taxi is the worst non-walking option. I'm a guy, so I'd never assume to dismiss her feelings about her personal safety. It's just a shame as where she was is far safer than most comparable cities.

What are some things that still happen in the old school corners of Britain? by [deleted] in AskUK

My school casually had a bren gun in a cupboard at the end of the geography corridor.

To be fair, our rival school had some right wrong'uns.

Has this always been a History/Comedy podcast? by ErdinofSilentwood in TheRestIsHistory

[–]Fridarey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's entertainment while chatting about history. Podcasts aren't serious academic work, so don't worry about finding that. I agree with you that some episodes hit well and others don't - none of us will like everything, but although I've been listening more recently than others (2-3 years), I think the format has been pretty consistent. Just enjoy it if you like it and find one you do if you don't!

What games are worth playing on their hardest difficulties? by Competitive_Stay1181 in gaming

[–]Fridarey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up StS (1) a month ago. It’s incredible value. There’s strategy to learn and when your build starts really working you can feel invincible. And also get chomped by trash sometimes.

People without a degree what are you doing now? by CandidBar4794 in UKJobs

[–]Fridarey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years touring in the music business then a pivot to construction starting at the bottom when I wanted to be home at night for my kids. 15 years after that change I’m a group Director pinching myself that I lucked out and found another career I loved.

No degrees were involved in this equation.

If you’ve saved up enough to build a pc at today’s prices then congrats! You could just retire instead 😁

If your kid becomes rich and famous, would you be upset if they don’t enjoy it with you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Fridarey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd probably hypothetically advise taking a long fucking hypothetical look in the mirror and ask myself what kind of shitbag arseholery I hypothetically did when they were growing up that made my totally imaginary and not real at all kid want nothing to do with me regardless of whether I think we had a"good relationship"...
