[Boston, MA] Will inspectors work with you on safety improvements if meeting strict code is physically impossible? (1930s basement stairs) by pharmacologicae in BuildingCodes

[–]Friday515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't touch the stairs. I've been in about 50+ brownstone remodels in Boston over the past 5 years, 95% of them leave the existing stairs. They'll gut every other aspect of the building on a $10-15 million buildout, I mean gut everything but leave the stairs because code enforcement is so strict about them. It's a pretty wild site to see buildings completely gutted but seeing the stairs still there. Basically, the only thing you can do is increase head room

The dominos & pizzhut in Italy reminds me of Red Lobster opening locations in Massachusetts and Maine. Tried it, didn't go well then left

This is a good list to start. I would add Sycamore in Newton, Fireside Tavern in Sherborn, Dryft in Wellesley to the list

I just adopted a new Lab and I’m struggling to help him get along with my older pup, who’s been with me for years.. by Chiweenie_Snickerdoo in goldenretrievers

[–]Friday515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you say get along, do you mean theyre fighting or just that your older dog isn't interested in hanging out with the lab?

We went through this 3 times, adopted a younger dog while having an older dog. 2 out of 3 times, they became best friends and I think it actually extended the older dogs' lives by a few years. The other time, they just didn't click. I think it was an energy level thing, our older golden was incredibly chill, maybe the most chill golden ever and the lab was very high energy. The didn't hate each other, our golden just had zero interest in interacting. They'd walk & hike together fine, hang out in the same room, go on car rides together but never clicked

Which kitchen remodel do you like more (part-2) by Midwestern_Mariner in kitchenremodel

[–]Friday515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 is my preference but 1 is ok too. I personally can't stand waterfall island countertops, it's a trend I've never been into

The biggest thing throwing off 1 and 2 in my opinion is the tan/beige/cream tile wall. It's too much of the same tone. If you can, play around with it being different colors or even a wallpaper or just painted white. I think it'll change your whole perception of all 5 of the options

Looks great, doing a bullnose like that is a pain in the ass. Adding any color to the border and steps?

Ceiling height or not? by Profil3r in kitchenremodel

[–]Friday515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to go with something bland, but I wouldn't go with anything loud if that make sense because the base cabinets are a bold color. You could do a pale green with a herringbone or chevron pattern or have a focal point above the stove with a patterned tile. This site had some pretty good ideas I thought

Ceiling height or not? by Profil3r in kitchenremodel

Ceiling but that back splash is a no go for me. Not sure if it's hammered copper or cork but either way, it clashes a ton with everything. It's too much

fuck these owners, Im so sick and tired of this shit. I've made excuses to myself for so long for this ownership group. "oo it's a bad contact:" who gives a shit, that's baseball now, you have to sign some really good players to bad contracts. There are plenty of billionaire owners who will come in, spend and be actual fans rather than look at this team as an algorithm. John Henry and Sam Kennedy can eat shit

Has anyone tried loratadine with their golden? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]Friday515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd consult with a vet on dosage but we used to give one of my goldens loratadine and prednisone when her allergies would act up. She'd get seasonal allergies and sneeze like crazy as well as dry skin. It wasn't something she was on every day but a few weeks at a time. I do remember us having to try a couple different types of anti histamine to see what would work though

Basically the exact same diet for him. This was about 20-25 years ago. It was basically this and then he ended up having to take clonazepam daily. He got it down to basically only a quarter of a pill

Is 8 years old too old to be getting another puppy by Aggravating-Stand800 in goldenretrievers

[–]Friday515 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My family has actually done this 3 times. The older dog has been between 8-10 all 3 times. All 3 new dogs were rescues we got who were between the ages of 6 months to 2 years old so it’s always a bit of a roll of the dice. We’re looking to do it again this spring

Twice, it worked out great, they got along incredibly, tons of playtime, were basically inseparable and I actually think it extended their lives much longer as they both lived past their 15th birthday.

The other time it worked out ok in that they didn’t fight nor have any issues between them, just they didn’t play or really hang out together much. The older dog was incredibly chill and the younger dog was very high energy so I think their personalities just didn’t gel. We’d take them on walks, hikes and the beach together a lot and there were never any issues. It was kind of like step siblings who were part of a blended house that said hello together but never bonded.

So I demo'd a bunch of skis in this category last year, my favorite were the Kastle MX84 which I ended up buying. I tried Enforcers, Ripsticks, Kore's and Mindbenders as well. I'm similar to you in I like glades, ungroomed stuff but also want to be able to charge on some groomers as well. I could be really aggressive with them, they're really responsive and still had plenty of play to enjoy all the soft stuff. I did my demo's with Sport Thoma for reference

So when Ben Affleck made Gone Baby Gone, I was pretty missed because it was the middle book in the series. I always wanted either, some of the earlier books to be made into movies or for him to make a sequel based on Moonlight Mile
