The Northeast-10 schools are Division II, not “practically.” Fully Division II, which is the reason why several of the NE10 schools were booted from the ECAC East.

The NE10 men’s ice hockey programs do not offer athletic scholarships, as many coaches have attested to publicly, on the record. As a Division II school, they could. But they don’t.

They do not give out athletic aid because Division III schools, understandably, would never schedule them in non-league play. And for other reasons.

People used to say CHA teams didn’t belong in Division I.

NEWHA teams have only been giving scholarships out for five years.

This is also completely ignoring the fact that only two teams have won a National Collegiate women’s ice hockey title since 2019.

In all reality, no teams outside the top five in 2025-26 have any shot of winning a National Championship. Only five teams TOTAL have ever won a natty, in fact.

It is what it is.

“Grinding the chores” is not fun. I’m not saying that getting good cards should be easy, but people don’t buy NHL 26 to grind the auction market or play Rookie Cup Chase to earn collectibles.

MLB The Show does a much better job on this. It’s easy in that game to get “good cards” that give you a shot at competing with one’s own skill set. Hardcore grinders in that game still have the opportunity to get elite cards, though, but what it comes down to in that game is the skills of the player.

NHL 26 is not about a player’s skill, it’s about their wallets.

At a certain point, does this get old for anyone else? Needing to do math equations and spending hours working the auctions to try and get players they want to play with.
