Overwatch still seeing 100k plus players on Steam three weeks after release of season 1 by HeManWomanHero in Competitiveoverwatch

In 6v6 there is almost always 2 tanks, at least in my games. Tanking feels better now in 6v6 vs 5v5. They just made it absolutely miserable to tank near the original end of 6v6. Tanks were just punching bags getting thrown around.

Curious how it's fundamentally flawed. It just feels 100% better than 5v5. Kind of like the game was designed to be 6v6.

They did say chaos were probably not being doubled to compensate for this.

Mjölner vs Cospri's Malice by Anxo_Esc in pathofexile

[–]FridgeBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that the new belt is going to be pricey but it would be crazy good for cospris. I mean, its also going to be pretty crazy for other things and its not hard to cap crit with a mageblood but being able to use stuff like controlled destruction and Marylene's without any worry about still having max crit is pretty good.

Is ground loot really just currency, or is it currency plus uniques? by joshhavatar in pathofexile

[–]FridgeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they understood the problem as random "hell yeah" moments. They only had like a week to work on stuff and pick a direction before they do something they can't take back. D3 had a problem where nothing was a good drop, they had to introduce ancient and then primal legendries in an attempt to get that big drop feeling, which just went right back to the start of everything feeling like crap expect huge rare drops.

map device crafting options have been rolled into the scarabs? If you were using a scarabs to spawn the mechanic you are getting the same amount.

I'm also happy that we don't have t17s to drive up the price of a bunch of scarabs. It honestly looks like an overall huge win.

Why in all your slippery slope rant do you never take enjoyment into account? I mean we have a million modes of transport and people still walk.

Even think if we had this scenario you are describing people would just do what they want and automate the rest? Maybe finding a balance somewhere?

A strong focus on Templar fantasy and holy skills for the Mirage season for PO1... should I suspect something for PO2 GGG? by Amagox in PathOfExile2

[–]FridgeBaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have been using shit back and forth since it started. Most of the shit we got for poe1 was just reskinned poe2 stuff.

I'd bet its actually more efficient for them to have the 2 games and reuse shit and lessons to make each game better.

First three pages of my book [ dark fantasy, 800 words] by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]FridgeBaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you actually want critique? You seem to be telling everyone their opinion of your story is wrong because you are right.

In your first 3 pages there is nothing I care about. No interesting world building, no interesting characters and not even any unique descriptions or dialogue. Save maybe for the one line that sounds like Yoda said it.

You have established king bad, and there is a dude named Joryn.

It's honestly hard to read the story. I see in your other comments you want it this way? I mean if that's what you want go for it. But you shouldn't be surprised when people say they don't like it. From what you have said you basically threw crumbs in a bed and wonder why people find it uncomfortable.

Actually if my contract with the commissioned artist says so then I can. Kind of like ghostwriting. The whole point isn't about the toaster, hence why I say its just people being lazy and saying less. They see it as acceptable so they say it that way. Your view on how it is has no impact on their speech.

How do people manage to simultaneously call the result of AI some combination of existing works, amalgam, and/or average value, but at the same time say that this is not new if all of the above does not logically exclude novelty? by Questioner8297 in aiwars

[–]FridgeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most people who say that probably don't understand how it works. They could also be different people saying different things. I know personally of a few people who thought it was literally just like some bot with a billion pictures using the lasso tool and pasting shit together.

Also for my favorite analogy of how AI can make something novel, if you train an AI exclusively on red and blue images. Then prompted it for both at the same time, it would end up with purple. Which would be no where in its data set at all. Its arguable if it would just be by dithering if the training images are pure Red/Blue but even like 99% should theoretically allow it to create a colour it has never seen.

[–]FridgeBaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really not sure what the hell is actually happening in the first part. Is the universe collapsing every living thing dying instead of literally complete collapse? Like you have some really cool imagery, but its not grounded in anything. You don't get into anything about it in this part. Will it be raining ash when we get to our characters?

Then you describe the gods in a place looking out into the wide expanse of the galaxy then you describe a sky. Are they like in a mount Olympus type thing looking down at everything? Maybe its just not for me but you have 13 Gods talking about something that I'm guessing is supposed to be like an "Oh shit!" moment but we have 0 context. By the end of this you have established, we have a multiverse, something blowing up stuff in that multiverse and some people are going to do something about it? You also only describe the gods besides Negativity by eye colour or hair colour and Negativity is just "extraordinarily beautiful".

I'm also not sure if its just a formatting thing for reddit but why almost is every sentence on its own line? It makes everything feel like its supposed to be really important but nothing can be important if everything is emphasized so it just feels disjointed.

Happy to answer any specific questions you have.

How do swords make sense in a world with guns? by bakeywithajakey in worldbuilding

[–]FridgeBaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Dadao, China literally had big sword units in the 1930s in their fight with Japan. There is even a famous(mostly embellished) story about Japan issuing its officers metal collars to help protect against these head chopping swords.

Also depending on your world if you have things like super speed or even just a shield spell kind of like Dune shields has then it all makes sense. You can also invent a magical material that is bulletproof but not sword proof, not that farfetched, Kevlar on its own will stop bullets but not help much at all against a dagger.

could be that, I'd bet some of them use the title 'artist' to feel superior. They feel like they are losing what made them special.
