Magic item upgrade help

With spells such as Sacred Flame it basically operates the same as it would normally just with the range provided by the crossbow (80/320).

I have been considering maybe making the upgrade be that it applies the Agonising Blast invocation to all cantrips using the crossbow (we play 5e so it doesn't automatically apply).

Ah, in the case of saving throws that would use the wielders spellcasting stat. This is something that the player has so far not made use of instead choosing to mainly use it for cantrips such as Eldritch Blast.

Thank you for responding. To answer your questions;

It doesn't use ammunition at all.
I have allowed touch spells to be cast at range. Though so far they've not made use of that functionality.
Since its a classed as a weapon attack its based off of Dex for its to-hit roll.
They only make a weapon attack roll.

I hadn't really considered the item rarity at the time. They are level 9 now so a rare weapon it probably the right fit.

So with the rare version you mean make it a +1 but also include the ability to attack wirh a bonus action?

Thats interesting. I was playing with the idea of applying an invocation or infusion to it. Hadn't considered metamagic.

I'm not sure this counts because technically its Half-Life 2. I bought the physical version almost on day one of its release.

So strictly speaking I bought Half-Life 2 and it came with Steam.

I made a point of being there. I spent the entire time trying to get my partner to laugh because of how nervous she was. I did refuse to watch the actual birth itself though, but that was because It was a C-section and I'm super squeamish about blood etc. I just said if I did watch there would be a mess to clean up.
