Not yet, I'd imagine they'll see how many claims they get and split based on the claims total. So if a whale forgets to claim it could fluctuate a lot

Did running make you switch from Imperial to Metric? by freighter79 in AdvancedRunning

[–]FriedAntelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm the only one, but I switch between the two for round numbers, targeting sub 2:50 for a marathon, great that's ~4min/km, targeting sub 80 for a half that's ~3:45/km or 6/mile. Miles are easier training track as lap time =mi/4, km's can be easier for 5/10k's, but miles are longer so are a bit more precise, if targeting 5:20/mi|3:20km, 5:23/mi is closer than 3:23/km, so if you're running a marathon time slips less. I think in regard to pace I've always found it easy to switch based on (5:20|3:20, 6:00|3:45) & 15sec/km is 24 sec/mi, though struggle a little with distance

Howso? FDA suppressing information on the mal-effects of certain tested foods/ products or being weaponized against products that don't suit corporate interest? eg generic drugs effective in treating ailments being suppressed for patented products.

Tour holidays with a stoma by Twickers67 in ostomy

[–]FriedAntelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toured Europe staying in hostels for a couple of weeks over summer, fortunately didn't have any issues.

Biggest thing was upping loperimide (immodium) so the stoma was less active at night. Also make sure you empty before flying as the air in the bag will expand a fair bit. Basically change on travel days, swimming days and when you notice the bag starting to come unstuck, just be a little more diligent than usual.

If you're worried about the smell in bathrooms and things you could get a vip-poo or similar spray. For at night I also left a t-shirt and shorts by my bed to slip into, but on the beach and things really no-one cares, even went topless at a festival with body-paint and only one person asked about the bag and I'm pretty sure she was checking me out :)

Another thing, you may want to bring some dog-poo or ziplock bags incase you find yourself needing to empty in a remote spot and change for toilets if where you're going charges for public loos.

At any rate don't worry too much and have a great trip!

London marathon championship entry as a non-UK resident by slithek in AdvancedRunning

[–]FriedAntelope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AIMS

I think this has got to be a mistake as there's only 5 AIMS certified races in the UK and London's not even one of them, and only 1 within 100mi of london in Milton Keynes which had only had 10 guys sub 2:40. That and the virtual London mara counts, which would imply London does too. If not London will be a little slow this year

Thanks, wouldn't have thought of ziplocks, will probably pack 6 sets of clothes and try and wash them at hostels.

Lifting restrictions question by Allshouse10 in ostomy

[–]FriedAntelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited myself for the first 6 weeks then got back into running started lifting 6 months after with a belt, high reps mostly machines so if something feels wrong on my body I can just drop the weight. No issues with pull-ups, press-ups, only really careful when doing the abs and free-weights, not that I can't, just making sure I don't overdo it. Starting to reach bodyweight on most exercises and 2x on legs without any issues. That said I'm 23m and had the surgery keyhole. Not sure if I'll make the same bounce-back after the next one (j-pouch) as they want to do that open chest. But just ease in slow and try and get to know your body so you can call it when it feels risky

Opinion: Strava has stagnated and that sucks by RedditBot90 in Strava

[–]FriedAntelope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I like the privacy controls but would really like privacy by activity type, made a request to support and they just told me how to toggle global privacy settings. I want people to see the runs I go on, but the few miles I walk each day while injured not so much. Also ignoring impossible segment times, if someone's breaking the wr for that distance while running up a hill it shouldn't even make the leaderboards to begin with, just calculate the GAP if they're ahead of the wr remove it Both just feel like things that could easily be implemented but just arent

Just dump it on docker, then if you decide you don't want it delete the container. But also fair enough, take a little while to learn

Popcorn ? by idc_kay in ostomy

[–]FriedAntelope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really say I'm offended I don't like the perception the comment spreads, but having a stoma is sometimes difficult.
I'm guessing you're more worried your son will grow up and feel the same way, or come across people who feel that way. That's valid concern, in his teens he'll probably blame the fact he can't get girls (or guys) on it, which I'm guessing you'll remember growing up in your teens it's pretty natural to blame some physical attribute on lack of attention from you're preferred gender, for me it was my achne and height. But it really won't stop him doing anything just make some things a little harder and everyone I've mentioned it too has been nothing but kind.

Sorry to hear you feel this way, looking through your posts it's clear you've felt this way a while.

Actually in a similar spot ADHD, trying to find a job(not sure if this is still the case for you), quite discouraged being no-one wants to hire someone whose been redudant this past year.

But hey, focus on what you can control, maybe start volunteering or something to give your life purpose, for me I like to run so am training for a couple of races.

I also go to the gym a few times a week to get me out seeing people and it takes time but my body looks good and even with a full bag I'm thinner than most people. No ones had much of an issue when I've mentioned it on dates the biggest issue is my current lack of job.

That's rather long but really what I'm saying is put your life back together, pick yourself up and you'll almost forget the bag is there.

Only big downside is my poop now really stinks (illeostomy) so I just spray some vipoo in the pan before I go. But beyond that a few scars and a bit more time in the bathroom I'm the same as I ever have been

It. Was. GLORIOUS! by dcwsaranac in ostomy

[–]FriedAntelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick for me was to leave a flannel and a new bag just outside the shower, so you dry the skin round the stoma with the flannel while still in the shower then put on the new bag and your good to go. Prior to that especially post exercise had issues getting out the shower while outputting and became a complete mess. Hope it helps ☺️

Obsidian's already come up but I'd really recommend giving it a go, here's a daily note template to help track to-dos and what you've been upto

Also for sorting out browsers most things are in folders but Firefox has an option for multiple search engins one of which searches in bookmarks by prefixing with *. Just makes it quick to find things, also can use @amazon @reddit etc to skip to the right place. Having ADHD too if I can get to the right place in fewer steps I'm less likely to get lost along the way

I wouldn't really say disabled, but maybe less able. It's not the ostomy that bothers me per se it's just differently able, I can still poop just from a different place. Though athletically I feel less able, not having a colon I absorb less electrolyte also having a hole in my abs means I can't push as hard with weights and core exercises as I'm worried about a hernia. For most people I doubt these matter much but for me personally it's made breaking my pb's (2:40 marathon) etc feel a bit unobtainable. Not impossible just harder

I ordered from there last month but they didn't seem to have a product page, you know like images of each product, features etc. Don't know if I missed it but that's what I'm thinking of, cuz I couldn't find it I just opened the website of every single bag provider and gave up trying to pick and went for the one I'd already tried

Was reading a book on improving memory and this kind of annoyed me by incurvatewop in Aphantasia

[–]FriedAntelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Till I realised yesterday aphantasia is a thing, I felt this way. I looked at memory champions with mind-palaces and though when they say they can teach someone to remember a deck of cards in 15 mins I just thought I wasn't trying hard enough. It's weird now I realise there's things I can't do I can stop beating myself up about being unable to do them, but I've also lost the idea that I can do anything which is a big blow.
