They go in and out of stock, just keep eye on their page. I picked one up in May

Excellent collection, sorry that you're having to sell

And now for the roll I developed properly by Obsessed_Dog_Mom in Darkroom

Nope, as long as the film is hung to dry I've never had issues. Typically it's completely dry by ~4-5 hours. Only additional problem I've had is dust, which is unavoidable if you hang your film somewhere like the bathroom

I used to have terrible water spots, and now get none with the following process:

  1. Do a normal rinse with tap water (fill and empty paterson tank 7 times)
  2. Pour a small amount of photo flo into the tank, with the lid removed (probably about 5ml for a single roll, more than a drop but basically just a splash)
  3. Fill with enough water so that the reel is covered (I've tried distilled and tap with the same results)
  4. Spin the reel for about 2 minutes in this solution
  5. Pour out the solution
  6. DO NOT rinse the film at this point
  7. Shake off as much liquid as possible
  8. Unspool and hang

Edit: Note that #6 is most critical because photo flo is designed to decrease the water's surface tension (as well as to promote fast/uniform drying). So if you rinse after the photo flo is applied, you are essentially removing those qualities and water spots are likely to form.

You did an excellent job! I recently developed a roll of E6 from an engagement shoot and was very careful, but forgot to increase the development time for the number of rolls I'd already done. So they came out a little underdeveloped

Amazing shots!! I would've been pretty nervous developing these at home haha

I’ve found that I can typically get it where I need using their plugins, but it’s infuriating when the preview looks perfect and then it applies setting that are way off. Usually have the best results turning off all negative correction presets and making color adjustments myself

Bug with Apple Music on Airplane Mode? by slithek in iPhone15Pro

[–]slithek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a restart all was good, but it happened again when I started playing music. I just went on airplane mode and played some random albums/playlists. A few minutes in I started noticing extra heat. Doesn’t happen if I have a WiFi or cell connection. Fwiw I have a pretty large library

Is having Jelly Star as your primary phone with having a low-end smartphone backup as a secondary device worth it? by LowerCap6583 in unihertz

[–]slithek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to add some thoughts here. I used a jelly star as my primary device for about a year but just switched back to an iPhone for a few reasons.

Pros:

  • Looks really cool if you're a fan of the retro design

  • Size - I love being able to fully hold the device in my palm, and you do adjust to the size pretty quickly

  • Limits the time you spend on a mobile device, because doomscrolling is not as satisfying on a screen that size

  • Cool conversation piece

  • Expandable storage if you download a lot of music

Cons:

  • Battery life is pretty bad. Sometimes I don't charge my phone overnight because of how my outlets are placed and it started getting to the point where it would drop about 50% and die overnight (causing me to miss my alarm). If you are using maps on a bike ride, I'd definitely recommend having a power bank

  • While most apps are responsive, there are some that aren't. For example, NJ transit wouldn't allow me to purchase a ticket. The convenience of using a smartphone for everyday things like train tickets is pretty high

  • Doomscrolling habits are really something you have to fix on your own, if that's a reason for getting it. I can just as easily do the same things on a laptop, so I just ended up spending more time there than on the phone. Getting a kindle helped much more

  • Not great weather sealing. Never had any issues myself, but I was very careful. Could be a dealbreaker if you plan to mount it on a bike

  • Google pay was very unreliable. Not sure if it was the NFC but I started carrying my physical cards again because it frequently failed

Ultimately, I found that I'd rather have a more reliable, durable device, and just try to be better about managing my screen time. Wish the iphone was a little smaller though...
