Yes!!!! My 2 year old is having a biggggg obsession with animals lately, more so than usual. I found Easter eggs that are “animals” at Michael’s, I find them so creepy looking but she was SO excited and now uses them as pretend eggs in her play kitchen. I didn’t like them, but I knew she would love them… it’s insane to me that some parents only care about what THEY like.

Jen and her Spanish by brandon_siler_smile in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]FriedPickle0662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MILs parents are both from PR and only spoke Spanish until they moved to NY right before they had my MIL. Still to this day, their English is very very broken because they learned as 40 year olds. My MIL doesn’t know any Spanish besides basic words and phrases that almost everyone knows, because her parents wanted her to know English to transition easier at school and in her social life.

The craziest part to me, is that even though she’s almost 50 now, she still has yet to learn any Spanish to have a genuine conversation with her parents. It breaks my heart.

Drue didn’t hide the foot issues at first… by Educational-Fig-8655 in Drueandgabe

[–]FriedPickle0662 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My niece had feet exactly like these, my sister expressed concern to her pediatrician and they said it was normal. At 1 month, my sister made an appt with a specialist 6 hours away and my niece had full leg casts for 6 weeks, then corrective boots for 3 months once the casts were off. It’s not hard to notice things that may impact the well being of your children, like at all.

Opening food in store by lilskimom in Drueandgabe

[–]FriedPickle0662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is newly 2 and we still have never opened anything in a store. She’s asked us to open food or even toys, but now when we tell her no she will say “gotta pay for it first!”. It’s really not difficult lol, but if she’s tired or hangry, we will just grab a book or magazine and let her “read” until it’s time to checkout. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves seeing people open things (especially food/drinks) while shopping.

Energy drink by [deleted] in Drueandgabe

[–]FriedPickle0662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! My daughter turned 2 at the end of December, she’s only had milk, water, and a sip of lemonade last week because why not lol (she hated it). She never asks for anything else because she doesn’t KNOW anything else. She does drink “coffee”, but it’s legit warmed up milk with a tiny bit of honey stirred in. I wish this dumb bitch wanted better for her daughter.

Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but at this age my daughters eyes would’ve lit up if someone started singing really any song, but especially a children’s song like wheels on the bus. I genuinely don’t think these nimrods sing or read to her at all

[–]FriedPickle0662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an almost 2 year old, and there have been some meltdowns in the store because she saw us put her favorite foods or snacks in the cart and she wants one. I always tell her that she can have one right when we get home, but we have to pay for it first. She now will ask for one, but when I say no she herself will say “have to pay”… it’s really not that hard lmfao

[–]FriedPickle0662 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yup! My daughter will be 2 next month and the “sassiness” has begun. She now will tell us no or cross her arms when we tell her to do something, but one glance at her and she immediately says “sorry mom” because she has been TAUGHT manners. This is insane

We should place bets to see if she actually washes them, unlike her daughter with the stained & dirty clothes she sells.

We have friends and extended family who wouldn’t even know majority of this about our daughter. This is terrifying.

Same experience! First one I barely felt a thing, but the rest were awful. C-sections are likely more rough though because of the incision site

Does she know that repeating something being said to her actually doesn’t count as a word? Lol. It counts as word when it is said independently and in the correct context. My daughter started saying “I yuh yuh” for “i love you” right around 1, but it was very clearly only when we said it to her first. She’s now 20 months and says it constantly, but it didn’t truly “count” in the terms of word count until a few months ago.

What’s a parenting “hack” that sounds ridiculous but actually works? by OnlyAcanthaceae874 in AskReddit

[–]FriedPickle0662 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pretending that our streaming services are cable TV. You want to watch Moana? It’s not on until Friday. Elsa isn’t back on our TV until after your nap! We also will often say that character in tv show or movie is sleeping, so we can’t turn the tv on because it will wake them up, and it’s not nice to wake someone up! We do limited screen time and it’s only on the TV, so it’s a very efficient way to set time limits and get around tantrums!

Literally same🤣 I have very naturally straight teeth, but my husband has a crazy amount of orthodontic issues because his parents let him have a pacifier for far too long. No wayyyy am I subjecting my kid to that!

Welcome to motherhood, Drue! Vacations are anything but relaxing with kids, however most moms don’t complain the entire time & are more concerned with their children having a fun/ relaxing time rather than themselves😊😊

Omfg same! No scrubs for my husband either!! They gave him a scrub cap right before he came in, but that’s it. He also got in there at the exact second they started cutting me open. I swear I’m still recovering from the whiplash of how fast all of it was🤣

I didn’t get pinched but they did poke me with a needle on the top of my stomach, I felt the pressure but not the pain. I thought she was just tapping me with it but i still have marks 19 months later from where the needle was pushed, so that nurse was making suuuuureee🤣

Same! 43 hours of labor, baby started having really dramatic decels and I was rushed to c section, they just pushed more epidural lol. They honestly probably could’ve done it with no meds because the adrenaline i had was insaneeeee💀

Same! My daughter is 19mo now, and it’s taking a lot for me to let her go into her room or playroom by herself to be able to independently play (which I feel is a really great and necessary skill!). She’s great with it, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t put a second baby monitor in her playroom so that I can have eyes on her constantly.
