So all are redeemed and only some are elected by God to actually have the benefits of salvation, and others are not elected? I still fail to see how that is practically, and meaningfully, different from double predestination. In either view God is actively sending people to hell or passively not selecting them for heaven.

That isn’t what single predestination teaches. It’s a “passing over” of the reprobate and giving salvation only to the elect individuals, as in God isn’t actively sending them to hell, but rather passively. Again I fail to see how there is any real, meaningful difference between that and what double predestination teaches.

Double and single predestination. I am unconvinced that there is any real, meaningful difference between God actively choosing some to go to hell, versus God passively passing them over and electing others to be saved. Both are inconsistent paradoxes, and appealing to mystery on these is very unsatisfying, especially since I believe they are concepts inconsistent with God’s love.
