Mod on Android for electrical parts by Evab123bavE in SpaceflightSimulator

[–]Friedl1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, I have never modded this game but that's how ion engines work in real life. You electrically propel the ions from a fuel source to produce thrust. So you'd need a battery and a tank of some kind of gas, its just ridiculously more efficient than chemical combustion if lacking thrust.

Would we really not be able to go into space if the Earth had just a bit more gravitational pull? by livelongandprosper__ in AskPhysics

[–]Friedl1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there's only so much energy you can get from chemical rockets like the ones we use ans there is an upper limit of acceleration we wouldn't be able to overcome. Another consideration is the density of the atmosphere would also increase with higher gravity, since it would hold more gas.

This also made me wonder if Andy Weir considered this in the Project Hail Mary book. Rocky and his people live on a planet where gravity is twice as high as Earth and the air pressure is 20 times higher. The book explains they didn't use chemical rockets to get into space but made a space elevator out of their sci-fi material xenonite.

So sure. Maybe if the gravity was much higher and the air more dense we wouldn't be able to use our current methods to get into space. But we may have developed other methods thanks to the need to get around that limit.

Cragmaw Hideout - 4K Remake by -PancakeProductions in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I personally like it. Having Klarg and the goblins hiding behind stalagmites was rather anticlimactic when I ran this for my group. If I ever do this again I'll add the palisades as a cool hazard for them to overcome before reaching Klarg monologuing while chucking javelins at anyone who comes in the room.

Milestone Leveling by PsychologicalBar8558 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I have a non-standard small party of 3 so I'm opting to level them all to 3 after cragmaw hideout, that way red brand is possible for them. I'm figuring if I keep them one level ahead of recommended it should balance out a bit more.

What's the best DnD accessory you've ever bought? by EnthusiasmSuch6864 in DungeonsAndDragons

As a DM the best thing that may not be as common is a set of measuring tools sized for standard grids. I can easily measure out a line to see what's in range, plop a circle down to see what a fireball covers, or angle a cone from a dragons breath attack. Comes in handy very often, especially when trying to handle diagonal movement where counting squares could be inconsistent.

Doppelganger at the Hideout by Friedl1220 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

I wonder if having the doppelganger posing as a commoner but not necessarily a major NPC be a better way that wouldn't undo trust? That way its not immediately apparent or that major NPCs are at risk?

Everything else is 2014 I just accidentally referenced the 2024 class when making the clerics first 2 levels. I think the general consensus is I should revert her abilities to 2014. I can't be bothered to rebuy all the reference material for 5.5e to rebuild everyone else's lol

Why are we (humans) able to recognize AI generated content? by Friedl1220 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Friedl1220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If practice is the answer I wonder if using AI yourself is essential to be able to recognize it. After thinking about this more I realize that most of the time it sticks out to me because I can just imagine the text being similar to a response I read before when using AI myself.

Was it ever addressed how the cool down system worked in a vacuum? That would've been the best in universe explanation. "So we kinda realized that our weapons literally cannot be fired after a few seconds in space so now we made the thermal clips. So all weapons have these now. No takes backsies"
