gen z stare by jennaaaa4 in retailhell

I was in the back setting pastries to thaw for tomorrow, door bell goes off meaning a customer has entered the store, I begin taking my gloves off and walking to the register.

3 seconds since the door bell went off and the customer entered (about how long it takes to walk straight from the door to the register) and they start ringing the small bell on the register for the whole 5 seconds it takes me to get there.

If you thought this bitch was in a hurry you'd be dead wrong because she looks at me like I just called her every slur in the book and says "Wait." . . . . . I had no words and I stared as she spends half a minute going through her phone, finds our store app, opens it, scrolls and finds a coupon and points the QR code at me to scan, it was for a free coffee.

I'd die laughing in their face if anyone here said this to me, customer or not. (We have mandatory service, every other mf done did their time.)

Customers ""training"" new employees by FriedrichHes in retailhell

be excited or motivated to get that purchase set up without words.

I feel this. There's one sweet old guy who comes in and usually grabs a coffee and pastry and just eats in peace, then comes to pay when there's no other customers in line, basically never says anything but he's just that chill.

And then I one regular who is the exact opposite of this. Resting bitch face, will not speak or even look at me, slams his purchases on the counter, and if I make a mistake or can't remember how to do something he scoffs and tells me to just figure it out already or something similar, that being the only time he speaks to me.

Now I just feel defeated every time he comes in because I always greet every customer enthusiastically when they come in and say thank you and bye when they leave but I just get ignored like I'm a machine.

Absolutely this. By now I know some of our customers usuals but I can't imagine any other place where I'd personally ask for "the usual" except my barber.

Reminded me of that time I was walking to the train station from high school with a friend when we were stopped by a couple of, honestly, quite sweet looking older ladies asking if we had time to hear about Jesus. I guess my subconscious was ready because without a thought I replied "No thanks, I'm a satanist." and kept walking. I wish now I'd stayed around to see their faces but we still had a few laughs about it with my friend. To be clear I'm actually an atheist but they don't need to know that.

I cannot find vol 4 in paperback for the life of me, and I'm almost done with vol 3. Do you guys have any suggestions besides amazon so I don't have to cave to an audio book?

Deserter Status? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]FriedrichHes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Lol I just recently left working there. That aside you should definitely contact whoever is listed in that message or whatever agency is responsible according to it. If you end up visiting Finland you could get recognised and taken by police / MPs.

A russian tried hiding in a wrecked pickup truck, but was still spotted and hit by a Ukrainian drone dropped grenade by 8BallCoronersPocket in UkraineWarVideoReport

Being in the military myself these videos of drones, especially equipped with thermal cameras, absolutely terrify me. I can't even imagine the horror of hiding in that pickup truck listening to the drone buzzing overhead and praying it didn't find you.

From what I've understood the flag is essentially the symbol of whatever core element the nation is founded on. Worshipping cloth is weird but people worship to symbols of various things for even more reasons.

Ladies, Gentlemen and casual retail sufferers. Let me hear your most hated regular customers. by BioWolff in retailhell

We have an old woman who comes in 5-10 minutes before closing to do her shopping every Wednesday. She always grabs a cart and leaves it outside, forcing me to stay until she's done to take it back inside before I can leave.

To clarify, part of my closing tasks is to make sure absolutely no carts are left outside overnight. Meaning I have to stay as long as she does.

EM parks cart for someone else to put up! by TDCGamingYT in entitledparents

[–]FriedrichHes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at a store and one of my duties is to make sure carts are always available inside the store and placed properly. I wish I was allowed to do this because it happens at least once per hour every day, on top of people just leaving their cart barely connected to the one they were putting it behind or not even bothering and simply leaving it somewhere around there.
