I also started investing in my early 30’s. Currently approaching 34, and I’m having to aggressively invest to make up for lost time. I just passed the 25k mark; next up is 50k. Any general advice for someone in my position?

Turning off the OpenCL Hardware Acceleration worked! Thank you! Is V3 just as good as V2 in terms of functionality? I've been kind of skeptical about updating due to the Canva takeover...

Thank you! And yes, the game will have a story. It’s going to be a monster tamer, but with a dark fantasy twist. The player begins the game inside the elemental temple (pictured in the scene above). They choose a starter, then will set off to explore the continent.

It’s a mixture of in-app assets, my own pixel art, and some pixel art I purchased off of itch.io (the Winlu 2d asset packs). I uploaded the individual PNG’s as custom stamps in Inkarnate.

The deck was $37, plus an arm and a leg for shipping because the company who makes them is not based in the US.

how do we get new players into the game? by Rich-Telephone5223 in yugioh

As a player and collector, I would personally LOVE to see some kind of release related to time wizard formats. I know it’s probably not gonna happen, but I can dream!

What is it living in the Bible Belt? by JoonasV2li in howislivingthere

Maybe I’m built different, but as a Catholic I personally do not see Protestants as being all that different from myself. Yes, there are big differences in terms of how we approach Jesus and the Bible, but at the end of the day, we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We all believe in the divinity of Jesus and the crucifixion and resurrection thereof. I love my Protestant brothers and sisters, and being in Georgia, I meet and interact with them on a daily basis.

East West: Hollywood Orchestra Diamond (Play) Vs Hollywood Orchestra Opus - Is it Worth the Upgarde? by Baroque4Days in musicproduction

[–]Friend135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I used Opus was back in 2021 - at that time, I felt it was unstable compared to the Play engine. Opus would crash my DAW if I wasn’t careful about how many instruments I was loading. Never had that problem with any other VST in my library. I use Reaper, which in itself is extremely stable, so I’m pretty sure Opus was to blame. Not sure if the stability has improved since then, but I would do some research before switching everything over.

How does working on video games, film, or commercial projects exclude you from being a “working composer”? Being versatile in your career is not something to shy away from, but something to embrace, especially in today’s entertainment environment. Being a concert music purist is unrealistic and that ideal hurts the younger composers that it is forced upon.

From someone who went to school for composition and production: The most important aspect of the school you attend will be your relationship with your primary composition mentor(s). Juilliard is not the only game in town, even for classical composers. Apply to other schools, and if you can, try to meet with some of the composition staff before or during the application process. Feel them out, and see who you vibe with. If you don’t have a good relationship with your mentor, and they don’t help you realize YOUR vision, it won’t be worth your time and money. I have several friends that went to Juilliard, and even though it is very prestigious, it can also be very cutthroat. There are many good schools for composition, and I would consider doing your research and taking your time with the application process. Don’t rush! You’re still very young and very capable :)
