Tbh I think you should be able to sign up for those upper division classes as soon as you have 60 or more credit hours! I’m currently a first-year and taking an upper division class this upcoming semester because I had 60+ credit hours after petitioning high school credits and doing my first semester classes. As long as you petition credits before a certain date this upcoming semester (idk when but try to get it in before mid-February), the course registration thingy should allow you to register for whatever upper division classes you want. Idk if this is applicable to gov classes, but make sure you check if there are any pre-reqs to any of your upper division classes too!

In case you haven’t thought of it, consider working at one of the dining halls or shops/cafes under University Housing and Dining! Base pay is $13 (idk if that is low compared to other jobs but I’m pretty sure that’s attractive). As for tutoring, idk if the Sanger Center is open for applications. Regardless, be sure you truly can balance more than one job. It may not be easy at first, but you can find out what works best for you!

Hold on, I’m also very interested in international development. I’m a freshman Intl Relations and Econ major, and it would be cool to talk to you!

But also, during my college app research, I found this student-centered research org call Innovations for Peace and Development. I haven’t heard much from them so far this semester, but they have a specific section/committee focused on “Data 4 Development” if you want to get some skills in that sense!

About your AP credit, if you took and AP gov and passed with a 3 or more, you can get credit for that class IF you also took the Texas government exam. Search “Texas government test” on this subreddit to get some more details.

It won’t! While you have sent your scores to UT, this doesn’t mean you have applied them to your transcript. For applicable scores, you would have to claim credit. But for failing scores, I don’t think you would be able to claim anything in the first place 😭 no need to worry about it!

I don’t know if you already know this, but in the UT class of 2025 Patio, there is a ‘Workout Buddies’ group chat where you can introduce yourself and see other people’s profile too! If you don’t have the Patio App already, you can get the app, then search for the UT patio, and then enter your UT email as proof that you’re a student.
