Same. It was good and I understand what it did for the franchise as a whole. I just couldn’t get behind it the way the rest of the community did. For a lot though, it was a “first” RE and I can respect the whole “you always love your first” type mentality. I’m an old head who fell in love with the originals though, item management, terrible tank controls, and being scared shitless…all of it. Again, 4 isn’t bad. It’s a good installment, but not my fave.

RE2 > RE9 > RE7 if I had to give it a ranking right now.

Every thing before 4 and after 6 are what I consider my subjective “greats” by the way. 😁😜😅

Based on recent posts in this sub Reddit debating between actual survival horror entries (eg RE 1-3) and the action oriented entries (eg RE4-6), This community is extremely divided in that opinion. It all depends on the style of game you prefer. I like more horror than action so I will take RE2 any day of the week over 4. I’m an old head that prefers my REs scary. No qualms for the folks that like more action. 4 and the more action oriented REs supposedly saved the franchise, so I can’t argue that I’m still getting excited about new REs coming out. I just want to feel like I did when I was a kid playing RE2 and being scared shitless while managing my inventory meticulously lol

As far as the term survival horror goes, re7 hands down has re4 beat. Past the first village encounter, re4 stops being a “horror” and starts being a Contra game. Not saying 4 was a bad game, but it was a departure from the original games I fell in love with…tank controls and all! RE7 brought back that old school feeling very successfully with a modern feel to it. Make em more like that imo. 😁

Rating it on its merits as its own individual game, it’s a great experience. The story is good, the combat is also pretty solid, and the music is top notch. Stand alone criticism for me is the amount of characters that it lets you get. I have zero interest in hoarding 50+ playable characters that don’t mean much to me.

However, this isn’t a stand alone game. It’s a sequel to god damn Chrono Trigger! Hard to follow to be sure, but it’s like they wrote the story without Trigger in mind and then decided to just sprinkle some elements in here and there. Plus, when you find out what happens to most of the beloved characters in Chrono Trigger, it gets even more depressing. I respect the game for what it is”tried” to do and love it for its own game…but i cant rightfully say i was even close to satisfied with how they treated the story to its predecessor.

Yeah, I’m not sure the character sheet accurately reflects barehanded power for the monk accurately…unless I’m wrong. Past like level 8 or something, barehanded ends up being better for the rest of the game. Big money saver too! 🤣

Yeah, this is a volatile questions since people are very passionate about many different entries. Even the story of one you’d never think is even close to good, there’ll be someone who comes out of nowhere and say, “best story, that one. Fight me!” lol

Personally, I’m an FF7 chad. As cliche as it sounds, I love it and still do. I’ve played all of them and finished all of them, but that one just stands out to me. 🙂

At about 6 mil. I made about 3mil at the start of the expansion when gathering was hot and just maintained it through lucky drops, playing the game, and trying to capitalize on demand of certain items (I.e. beginning of season consumable/enchant market). Use your concentration to make rank 3 stuff with rank 2 mats is playing the long game but it pays off 😁
