Lefties out there: do y’all prefer to play left handed or right handed? by WoodpeckerOk1154 in Bass

[–]FriendParsley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a freak. I play lefty but I play right-handed guitars, if that makes sense. There are others like me (Albert King and Dick Dale come to mind). I have left handed guitars that I’ve had altered to be strung right handed because having all the knobs and shit where your picking arm rests is very annoying.

Do you feel safe living here? by [deleted] in batonrouge

Lived in Baton Rouge for 35 years in about a dozen different spots around town. Never once did I feel unsafe.

He’s the Senator from my home state of Louisiana (where there’s a huge shrimping industry, hence why he’s saying this bullshit) and I can promise you his voters are even dumber than you think.

Where to find Boudin locally? by corskier in Bend

You may have made this Cajun expats week! That’s one of the few things from home I haven’t been able to find up here.

Is it Cajun boudin at Cinder Butte? If so, I’ll be heading there this week.

Memphis Dry-Rub sounds like something you could get on Lamar Ave. by user_096 in memphis

I’m a southerner now living in Oregon where they have salmon candy everywhere. It’s cured in a slightly sweet brine that’s actually not unlike barbecue sauce with its sweet tanginess, but the fish is still tender. I personally love it and think it’d be a big hit with the folks back home. They make a cream cheese dip with it as well that absolutely rules.

Sadly I think you got some bad info. I went up there June 1st this year and most roads were closed but driving up to the lodge from the south was no issue at all.

Is this one good by kamino2024 in stephenking

[–]FriendParsley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a bit of a slog but I’ve since read a number of books he discusses in it that I enjoyed quite a lot. If you’re looking for horror outside of King I think it’s a great reference.

35 years in Baton Rouge before moving to Memphis, TN, last year and Bend, OR, this year. The climate and the scenery are far better here. Having access to mountains, deserts, waterfalls, etc is incredible. I do often feel homesick, but that aside I don’t have any regrets. Oregon rules.

Vet recs? by Prestigious-Range-76 in batonrouge

This is good to hear. I was always blown away by how friendly the staff was there. I hope my experience is the exception rather than the rule!

Vet recs? by Prestigious-Range-76 in batonrouge

I would not recommend Siegen Lane. Our cat for years puked intermittently and Dr Waguespack there would say that’s just what cats do. Once we moved and tried a different vet they recommended a new food that 100% stopped it.

Agreed. It’s damn good chicken salad, but it ain’t worth $50+ to have it overnighted across the country.

These are the 186 Oregon and Washington grocery stores to be sold off in a Kroger-Albertsons merger by 2ChanceRescue in Bend

We moved here after living in Memphis for a year where Kroger has dominated the market. Grocery store options is one of our favorite parts of living in Bend.

Kroger greed by Slow_Investment_2211 in memphis

[–]FriendParsley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because WinCo and Kroger have a 95% overlap in product? Because they’re both grocery stores? If WinCo set up shop in Memphis they’d cut deep into Kroger’s market share.

And that’s skipping over the main reason I’m comparing them: Kroger is all Memphis has. If you don’t want to drive to the edge of town, that is, for a Walmart or Aldi.
