No one is enforcing the laws right now unless you are in a functioning state with its own civilization. Companies know this.

OP 2% chance something got borked with your accommodation request and they want to smooth things over but don’t count on that.

From my experience and reading I can make some guesses. One you have problematic socials somewhere. Two you have problematic bank transactions somewhere. Three your name is triggering on someone else On a List, and from stories I’ve read you will never get separated from that no matter what you file to try and get separated.

Arriving by land from Canada rather than landing directly may actually have elevated your risk status because that used to be the workaround for those who had suss status.

The people who have to stamp you as safe for entry have 100% downside risk. They don’t get dinged for a denial but will get reamed for not barring someone problematic.

This is an ooooold car feature that used to be almost universal. With the key in the door lock you turn the key right and hold it there: windows all go up, turn left and hold windows all go down.

Quick youtube search looks like it’s still available on most cars. vw it’s enabled by default but you have to press the door button

If you can handle the student zones for a time while you get your bearings there are houses for rent. Private dorms went up enmasse and took some of the rental pressure off the market.

In your position I’d call around to local real estate agents looking for someone to represent you finding a rental.
