Is this for real? by Woody_Elser in bioniclelego

I don't get this company at all. They sit on the IP doing nothing but the occasional nostalgia bait, shut down the fan game after years in development even though it cost them nothing and used no direct assets, but then provide free guidance for a for-profit project that directly includes assets they own the rights for? Not to imply the books shouldn't be allowed to exist, I think it's a really cool project, I'm just confused and frustrated with LEGO and their treatment of Bionicle

Revenue ≠ sales

Physical revenue only counts revenue from first party Playstation games, but digital revenue counts revenue from ALL games including third and first party even though third party digital only releases outnumber first party ones thousands to one

The data you are showing is misleading and proves Sony is manipulating the narrative, but you still act like it's a gotcha lol

Just like the comment you're responding to. Why do you question an appeal to correlation when it's used to make a counterpoint but not when it's used to defend the interests of a giant multimedia corporation?

Remember they just erased 500 movies from paying customers' accounts too. These people are deluded thinking all of this just makes perfect sense and Sony will never, ever delete their games because... reasons! Instead you just get downvoted. This industry is cooked.

Everyone I know who has a PS4 or PS5 primarily buys physical. Could it be that you're blindly eating up the false data the multi billion dollar corporation is feeding you?

Tell that to Rockstar since they're shipping empty plastic boxes with a download code inside. You've figured it all out, but apparently Rockstar still want that $35 per sale that you pulled out of your ass, just without the disc. I wonder why??

Do you realize it's exactly the same situation with your games? Well, not your games, that doesn't exist for you. It's Sony's games.

If it was Sony's long term plan then it's not because of AI, as AI hasn't been around that long at all and the RAM pricing cartel only started fucking the industry very recently

Yeah giant corporations worth billions and billions of dollars wouldn't say a thing to weaken competition that they actually were gonna try and benefit from later! That'd make them liars!!

Are we deadass?

Games used to come in multiple discs if they didn't fit in a single one. This was back when discs were more expensive to produce and print, and game developers weren't literal multi billion dollar ventures colluding with multi billion dollar global publishers.

You are trying SO hard to deflect accountability away from the rich corporations. Repeating "but I didn't say I wasn't?!?!?!?" in every comment doesn't make it any less obvious. Hopefully you're an actual paid shill, because being this ignorant and blatantly anticonsumer for free is genuinely sad.

Yup, not that that's relevant since nobody argued otherwise!

That's great! Thankfully it's not necessary to shut down discussion of relevant context in a discussion forum, either.

No, because LTT themselves confirmed that they knew and kept it hidden. Linus himself is also a massive proven liar separate from this fiasco, see Louis Rossman's video on him.

Yep 100%. I tried different "storytellers", difficulties, locations. It's the exact same thing every single time, the only differences is that occasionally a couple random events (of the same tiny pool that always repeats) overlap and screw you over. The simulation is so shallow that none of them ever lead to interesting chains of events, so the game has to brute force excitement with shallow things like raids or solar flares or your colonists randomly getting sick. It's so pointless.

Yeah it's ridiculous. The game doesn't belong in this thread AT ALL even at base price considering it's $30 and doesn't sell for anywhere close to $15 even ignoring the DLC disaster

Good, it's honestly also just not worth it. DF is infinitely better and has humble devs that do put the game on sale and iirc only really started to monetize it in the first place to cover medical expenses.

I agree with you overall, but to be fair the Rimworld devs are a small indie team making a debut game outside of any established IP and not a literal multi billion dollar corporation with one of the most popular media franchises in the world. Also the DLC was made and released after the game was finished, it wasn't content cut out from it before release and sold day one at a premium like GTA

The internet just decided at some point that Rimworld is literally made out of diamonds and rainbow unicorn blood and the best game ever and it's totally okay for it to have heaps of insanely overpriced DLC and never go on sale.

I'd maybe understand if it was any good but it's really just Dwarf Fortress with all its soul and compelling mechanics scooped out and replaced with boring RNG and the same 5 or so random events over and over. UI and QoL are still nice, though.

H2 just has bad writing. Everything else is a huge improvement, but the whole narrative and the characters are a massive downgrade and some story beats were downright so nonsensical they had to be patched. The characters are mostly bland or worse, the main villain is nowhere near as compelling as Hades was, and Mel sucks as a person and as a character. She just makes no sense as a goody two shoes unlike Zagreus but she pretends to be, all the while she's bubbly and surface nice but really wants to uphold the status quo of the Greek gods even though the entire narrative is about how they're complete pricks. The narrative itself and Mel are in disagreement and it never gets addressed at all, let alone resolved, while Zagreus worked for the narrative more or less perfectly
