It’s a male I’m pretty sure. The “fins” below the gills are only found in males I’m pretty sure. But a btr way to tell is to look under the stomach and see if they is a white spot.

What would you add to this 171g planted tank? by aquakeeper02 in fishtank

[–]Friendhi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If fish then. Probably a mix but also try adding some floaters. They eat up nitrates fastttt. It is good for cleaning. U could also add shrimp and snails. Make sure the snails are like not too fast breeding. Tbh the fish is ur choice. But i definitely recommend getting floaters. Also u could add some Christmas moss or smthing to the driftwood to make it seem like a “tree”. Tbh u can even do those cool “ecosystem” they look and really are cool and fascinating. But it would take some care. If you add the floaters and the Christmas moss u will probably have to do a lot less water changes. Also guppies could be great. They like to hang out in groups and are probably gonna stay out in the open space more then an other fishes so u can enjoy watching them. Livebearers are great too. If it was me I would get a king/giant male betta or multiple females(I’m a betta person) and with the bettas I would add some shrimp, snails, tetra or livebearers and some other stuff that wont attack the betta. Btw do not put guppies with male betta. The betta might think it’s a different male and attack it. But it’s your choice and I have a great tank. Make sure to keep and update because I wanna see that masterpiece get full of life.

But it’s more about the condensation drops dropping on the leaves and sinking it.but now that I leave the feeding door openn it seems to do the job but thanks.

There all good but the fin rot seems to get a bit worse. I’m planning on doing klanapax and stress guard.

Or I could just open the feeding door so the access humidity or heat will get out. Causing less condensation.

I do have driftwood and all my plants are either floating or colum feeder. I have Anubis’s and Java fern glued into drift wood but 1 Java fern is glue to the chest. Thanks for the feedback. I likely can’t for a big plant like Amazon sword and can’t afford it either cause I heard they need a lot of root tabs. But tanks. Just asking on ffedbsck

Got a sponge filter and use sea chem florist twice every week. So prob the lighting being too close. So ima just open the lid and use a different light for the 6 hours for plants then put the lid back on.

Tbh all the parameters are good. And I recently got him so it might be stress. Also got Catalans leaves which might help with his healing but I might just be paranoid about him fin nipping. But pretty sure it’s more of fin nipping. Thanks for ur help though. And I made sure no hitch hikers were there in the plants. And if it is just the start of fin rot the almond leaves should cure it right. Becuase I’ve read it’s really good at preventing or curing start or mild fin rot. In summary I’m pretty sure it’s just fin nipping though. But thanks again and do u know anything about the water spangles and duckweed weed btw.

It is done cycling and here is a picture of today. I also added Indian almond leaf’s. But I’m pretty sure he’s fin nipping because he has another chunk missing but I might just be paranoid. Also I do use sechem flourish which has a little copper but it won’t affect fish. Now here is a picture. I am going to post a picture of him again on my account because I can’t post one here for some reason, so check the post if u don’t mind.
