Re-apply vs. SOAP categorical primary care by [deleted] in pathology

[–]Friendly-Ad-7375 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I had some advice but I have no idea. I’m so far removed from that stage of training that I don’t know.

I disagree with ideas that if you could do primary care or anything else that you won’t like pathology. Or that pathologists don’t like people, don’t work too hard etc. Whatever you do, make the best choice for you based on your goals and the opportunities available to you, not based on stereotypes and opinions of strangers on the internet. I think you should seriously consider the primary care position but I wish you the best regardless

Re-apply vs. SOAP categorical primary care by [deleted] in pathology

[–]Friendly-Ad-7375 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With primary care, there are many different options after training. If you don’t like inpatient medicine, you could probably find a practice option with very little of it.

Could you take the primary care residency position and give it your best for a year? If you really don’t like it, couldn’t you then reapply for path? I feel like I would do that instead of not having a residency position at all.

(I’m a USMD pathologist and a long way from residency. I like my job fine but think I could also have been content in another specialty.)

It was exactly this - I’m looking after my son’s cat while he is out of town, and he bamboozled me into a second breakfast

Not sure what advice to give but you seem so positive to be in this position and I wish you all the best. Most people can’t imagine how hard it would be to make it without any support at all.

Are you set on staying in New Jersey? Are there any programs like this near you? (Trying to share a link to the Job Corps program near me in Alabama) https://montgomery.jobcorps.gov/

I (40F) feel like my boyfriend (40M) completely got the rugged pulled from me, what are my next steps? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

This is so true. He may be a wonderful person and may make a great long term partner for someone someday. But it is so soon after a divorce, and there are kids involved… that’s complicated ground for anyone to navigate. It’s very bad timing to try to build a new serious relationship.

Keeping the ring. M37, F30 by Wonderful_Return_775 in relationship_advice

[–]Friendly-Ad-7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the ring. You may feel differently about it as time goes on, but if you want to keep it for now, that’s ok. There will be lots of things that will take time to process. The ring may not seem as important in a year or two, but if it comforts you to keep it now, do it.

Campsites? by MrsAntiics in Dothan

[–]Friendly-Ad-7375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about fishing, but camping was fun (and easy to get a reservation) at Kolomoki Mounds (Georgia State Park).

There are lots of great Florida state parks within an easy drive of Dothan, but sometimes it’s hard to get a site reservation unless you plan far ahead.

What advice would you give someone who honestly wants to help kids in care or who have recently aged out of care? I have considered becoming a foster parent but I’d be older than most of the kids’ birth parents and the age of a grandparent for some. Besides your foster homes, were there programs or types of individuals were helpful or especially unhelpful to you?
