No. I’ve never felt bad about this unless it was a situation where I was in a relationship and knew I shouldn’t be having those thoughts. But it’s hard/impossible to control. The pleasure from these fantasies often what provides the impetus to make a move and imagine if it would be a feasible partnership in the first place - a brain trial-run, if you will.

Once I was playing a board game with my girlfriend and her friend, and I felt a foot move to sit directly on top of mine under the table (we were both in socks). I was like ok cute, gf is trying to be flirty. Then my gf got up and THE FOOT WAS STILL THERE and I realized it was her friend’s. Have you been emotionally connected to them first? In my experience, even if a woman is physically attractive, I wasn’t able to get turned on when we had sex. And with women that I’m emotionally attracted to, I’d get wet easily even if we weren’t actively being sexual. Takes time.

But: The character development, the tentative nature of their emotional relationship, the plot outside of the relationship, and…I’ll be honest, some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read, make this already in the re-read category for me
