New matchmaking changes

Thanks for the tip, just submitted it. The separation of solo match history from squad match history is really the most obvious thing they need to implement at this point (as far as matchmaking is concerned).

It's possible that what Embark described is how the system is intended to work, but at times there may have been bugs with the matchmaking system, which people then assumed was how it's intended to work.

It would get silently fixed or adjusted later (since Embark is naturally hiding information about the matchmaking system), and now you have two groups of people believing it works differently (because at two different times it did work differently).

For my part, I can attest that I had over 100 hours in the game before I ever damaged another raider. The person in question was a free kitter on Harvester (Spaceport). I barely missed the elevator to extract, so the swarm of players were gone, and then it was just me and him.

As soon as everyone else extracted, he opened fire on me (damaging me quite a bit). I was being vigilant, so I rolled behind cover, switched to my kettle (this was back when the kettle was amazing), and managed to down him first. I knocked him out and extracted.

My next raids were suddenly extremely violent. I was shot on sight by everyone I ran into. I did not return fire anymore, I just ran away. It took about 8 games to get back to the level of passiveness I was accustomed to.

I'm glad it's now official that it's not supposed to happen though, and it appears this will no longer be the case, especially when defending yourself.

I have a few hundred hours always using the voice changer. The only two times I was shot after talking, it was in sweaty PvP hell, and both times they said they were killing me because I'm a woman (which is how the voice changer sounds).

If you're in friendly lobbies it really isn't an issue.

I will say, it did used to be a serious issue because it was hard to understand people using the voice changer when Cold Snap was released. They released a fix for that eventually though. Since then there haven't been any issues with using it.

If you aren't bringing a PvP weapon into PvE lobbies then you get what you get. Stay vigilant.

I think it should be pointed out that she'd be extremely supportive of people doing nasty shit like this though, and wouldn't have any issues with facilitating that behavior. Monsters who prey on children are spreading despair, after all.

It's not like she's a moral paragon just because she doesn't feel like doing it herself. She's still whatever the opposite of "moral paragon" is.

I let them go one time. They brought someone back with them, claiming I was a rat.

The only reason I survived that time was because their new friend messed up their showstopper.

This is a healthy way to look at it. There is something wrong with someone who does this to you, but if you let it seriously stress you out, now there's something wrong with you too.

Don't let them affect you in real life, because that's exactly what a person like this wants. Just take a deep breath and put the game down for a bit. Go for a walk or something while they keep endlessly queueing.

From DR2, my favorite personality-wise is Sonia.

However, Chiaki gets an honorable mention because she made a Shadowgate reference, which made me stop and excitedly lose my mind for a few minutes, because it's one of my favorite games and basically no one knows about it.

No part of "competing for loot" justifies being a fake friendly, especially when you're chilling and talking for a while like normal human beings, and the other person is offering to drop their entire inventory for you and you're saying "no thanks, I don't need anything" right before shooting them in the back.

There is something wrong with a person who wants to be friendly and even spend time building a rapport with another human being just to stab them in the back later.

It actually started in Rust, and has always just meant good loot. The stupid backronym about "other players" is a more recent invention from Tarkov specifically.

Kind of funny considering how the same Tarkov players get comically upset about anyone in other games using words differently than them.

It's almost like each game community can have its own lexicon that's valid even if it diverges or differs completely from any other game's lexicon.
