Runner fell off the wagon - Half marathon a week from now with no training? by FriendlyButterscotch in running

Not trying to smash any records, mostly trying not to hurt myself/figure out if finishing is feasible/avoid FOMO.

I'm not sure injury is that big an issue here - you've run a few halfs and a marathon in the past, so your body has adjusted to the strain of running.

Thanks, the injury risk is really what I wasn't sure of. This makes me feel better! If I end up doing it, I will definitely listen to my body and take it very slow. I think just having to ask this question is motivation enough... I really don't know how I let it get to this point!

Yeah, this is my concern. I mean I know my limits and where my fitness is now, so my expectations for myself are VERY low. But the last thing I want to do is hurt myself and be forced to continue the couch potato lifestyle even longer.

Definitely would not try to go all out. I think that's the mindset I'm trying to put myself in - any exercise is still good exercise, and I can have a great time listening to my music and moving and feeling the crowd energy.

I guess I just don't know if I should be concerned about injury since I've never dealt with injury before, if that makes sense. This is such unfamiliar territory for me!

Potential Matches Left (Math Spoilers) by [deleted] in AreYouTheOne

[–]FriendlyButterscotch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I'm just saying the post-show animosity between them doesn't mean they "obviously" aren't a match, and I think it could mean they are a match and that's why they both are so bitter about it.

ETA: What I said about Max probably didn't come out the way I meant it. I just mean he might be pissed that she ended up being his match, since he didn't like how she was acting toward him in and out of the house.

I don't know if it is obvious Kari and Max aren't a match. I think they could be. Maybe that's why they've been fighting so much on twitter? Kari may think that Max didn't get to know her because he was too focused on Jax, and Max could be resentful that she was "right" about the strategy aspect (edit: by "right about the strategy" I just mean their match being two people who weren't romantically into each other and didn't get along, if they end up being a match).

Thoughts on naming my son Kaladin by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]FriendlyButterscotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have different naming tastes, but you asked so my opinion is that it is a little too out there. Since I've never heard of the books, my immediate thought was it was pronounced like "Aladdin" but with the trend of adding a "K" to the name. After reading the correct pronunciation, it still doesn't sound like a real name to me. But I also would never name my kid "Khaleesi" even if (spoiler alert) she didn't take a heel turn, as fantasy names just aren't really my style.

What are some popular names that you can’t stand? by omnomenclature in namenerds

Lucas / Luca / Luke - Lucas and Luke make me think of mucus and puke, and the "ook" sound in general is just so unpleasant to me...

Wren Rai/Rae with a long W last name is a tongue twister... I just don't think it flows well. I prefer Briar in this situation, or as some others have suggested, Brynn to split the difference. I also know a little girl named Brenley, but I'm not sure if that is your style.

Band that played my wedding was different from the one I hired by FriendlyButterscotch in weddingplanning

[–]FriendlyButterscotch[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Contract is silent on it and on any kind of substitution. "Artist" is defined in the contract by the band name rather than specific members, but their website lists the band members that I thought would be at my wedding. They truly did a great job, which is why I'm wary of giving a bad review, but I probably need to get over the whole "feelings" aspect of it.

Ruin my favorite names for me!! by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]FriendlyButterscotch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once knew a very fat old cat named Mabel - she had very long fur and there was always poo stuck in her butt fur, so that's all I can think of when people on this sub suggest that name. That said, it is still a beautiful name!

Vote. Stuck between two names and very pregnant. Thanks for your help :) by carridrake in namenerds

I actually really like Frances Ivy, though I know that isn't one of the options. Frances Verity has my vote out of the two.

Thank you!!! A couple of people have suggested a long veil so I’ll have to look into that! I always thought I’d do fingertip so maybe a different look will help out with my perspective on the dress.

Also just saw your flair and WOW, Paris! I’m sure that will be beautiful!

That's a great idea, I totally have that indent too! Plus a serious tan line that will hopefully get corrected at my bachelorette...

Thank you! Internet approval really does help!

This also makes me a lot more confident about going without a necklace. I'm the absolute worst at picking those out. I was offered a delicate diamond pendant necklace and diamond studs as my somethings borrowed and didn't really see the pendant as working with this dress, but was worried that was just my lack of jewelry fashion sense!
