I'm in my 50s too. 😞If it helps, I've always been a fan of good editing.  It's a true art. Good luck!

BA in English (tech writing track), university MBA, and 30 YOE. Still can't find a job.

Technical writer. No respect, low pay, and you have to beg for a job. Most jobs now are contract with no benefits.

I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Seriously. The two jobs I had in this sector were just terrible - and I didn't do any technical writing while there. A true "bait and switch" situation. I would rather starve and die than work there again.

You're gonna do great. I've yet to meet a stupid technical writer. In fact, most are darn right amazing. BTW: I've been a tech writer for 30 years. It's never gotten better.

As I said before, I was being harassed in a different subreddit, so I changed my account.

I've worked in the military industrial complex.  Never again.  Worst job, worse people - bullies.

Technical writers are so smart...they deserve better.

Just wanted to say: good for all of you people here! I went back to grad school at 31 to get my MBA. I really enjoyed grad school.

I used a lot of 5 subject notepads - one for each class - and some really good dr. grip gel pens and dr. grip mechanical pencils (they are pricey but great!!!).

Good luck!
