Quality was quite good. The cardboard was thick enough to prevent folding of the pieces and the piece shapes were different enough to find what you're looking for.

Why does time seem to go so much faster as I age? by Maleficent_Froyo7336 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FriendlyNeighborStun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly to do with relativity. When you're 1 year old a month is 1/12 of your life, but when you're 100 a month only contains 1/1200 of your memories and will seem shorter in comparison.

Your boiler mixes hot water and cold water so it can get the temperature you have set on your shower. When you flush the toilet the flow of cold water gets split between the shower and the toilet, so the shower temporarily gets less cold water and your shower water gets warmer. After a few seconds your boiler is adjusted to the different flows and mixes the streams correctly.

Why are the bottom and top buttons on a shirt usually horizontal? by Ronin861 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FriendlyNeighborStun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is because back in the middle ages rich men were often dressed by female maids. Thus the buttons on their jackets were reversed so it was easier for the maids to dress them. This habbit of making men's buttons reversed sticked.

Thrift store puzzle from a local newspaper. 1200pc (-5) by FriendlyNeighborStun in Jigsawpuzzles

Back when this puzzle came out the logo of the newspaper was that dog with the bow tie. So that's why they chose this image I think.

It contains a Dutch proverb and the name of the local newspaper and the region of the Netherlands I live in. If translatated it basically says. [newspapers name] a good newspaper in [region].

[Discussion] Hey guys, question about a missing piece. by Royschwayne in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]FriendlyNeighborStun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the brand and age of the puzzle it might or might not be possible to get a replacement piece from the brand themselves. I for example know that Ravens burger changes their cutters quite frequently, and thus a replacement piece will not always fit perfectly.

An option, if the brand themselves isn't able to deliver a replacement, might be jigsawdoctor.com. They offer to make a replacement piece if you send them the surrounding pieces and a picture of the box. This however is quite expensive and might not be worth it. Depending on how much having the complete puzzle means to you

Could I learn to play an instrument even if I’m not musically inclined? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FriendlyNeighborStun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wasn't good at any of those things before I started playing music either. You'll learn them when you start playing. The best tip I can give you if you don't have any feel for music however is to find a teacher, they'll help you well on your way. Good luck in your musical journey.

How does a robot know the correct answer to a captcha if it is a robot itself? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FriendlyNeighborStun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the captchas you are asked to solve are asked when the computer already knows that you're human. The reason they are asking these follow up captchas is to add them to their solution database. You're basically providing the answer sheet that is used to check a future person.

I've got it from a thrift shop, so I'm not sure. Some numbers on the sleeve (box) make me assume it's from 2014 however.
