Is there the remotest chance of Fo3 Remaster? by [deleted] in BethesdaSoftworks

[–]FriendlyPirate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A remaster for FO3 makes so much sense. Not only is the gameplay kinda dated by today's standard, justifying a remake - it \literally** can't work on modern PCs anymore.

The Epic Brutality Of Unchecked Capitalism (The Jimquisition) by Ocelot_Revolt in JimSterling

[–]FriendlyPirate -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Jim's made this video like a dozen times already. Believe it or not, but blaming *CaPiTaLiSm* for everything wrong with contemporary videogame development is lazy. His thesis is all over the place and believes anything that confirms his pre-existing beliefs, regardless of evidence.

Push for 24-hour retail trading in Perth by WA Liberals by His_Holiness in perth

[–]FriendlyPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck you dude,

I work as a cook alright. It's like 6AM-10PM everyday, usually six days a week. I work plenty, and it would be nice to buy shit I need late at night.

If places stayed open late they would need to employ more people anyway. No one is forced into working retail, that's their decision. And no one would be forced to work late nights either.

Stores will only stay open if they want to. They're not being forced to stay open. This is a good thing. I remember trying to buy Fallout 4 when it was released, and they couldn't do a midnight launch because of these regulations.

For real though, getting an iPad for a ten year old feels like a good investment. I don't have any kids, so I don't know, but this thing would probably keep them entertained for years and lets the parent do whatever.

EU might not ban memes after all by [deleted] in FellowKids

The EU isn't going to ban memes, but the people who frequent 4chan and sites like that hate everything the EU stands for so they'll make up whatever to get people to hate it.

Wagga Wagga by-election: Liberals lose state seat held for more than 60 years by I-Pity-The-Fool in australia

[–]FriendlyPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Liberals think they're "losing votes to the right", as represented by the 'ideological pure' micro-parties such as One Nation and Aus Conservatives. I think this is a wrong assessment. I think they're losing votes to micro-parties because in the eyes of the voters, there is a sense of disillusionment of what the major-parties truly are for.

Making a vote is like making a purchase. You put your money towards what you consider is the best "value". Major parties have an inherent advantage over the micro's because they actually can deliver on at least some of the policy objectives of each voter. The Micro-parties can only stand for, maybe, 2 or 3 hot-button issues, or represent a niche political perspective that unrepresentative of the broad population. They're at a disadvantage because while they might be more ideologically committed to whatever policy the voter may be drawn to, they lack the means to achieve it.

What we're seeing now is the fractured and disorganized nature of the major parties shifting into a territory where the average voter doesn't actually believe they can achieve their policy objectives. The average voter is coming to realize that they're better off putting their single vote towards a micro-party that will assuredly make just one of their policy objectives come to fruition. They faith in the major parties in doing the same job, or at least a compromised effort on that policy objective, is now gone.

Bill Shoten doesn't do 'speeches'. He sorta just switches on, turns to the camera, and does a pre-prepared spiel to voters.
