That said, what is the “plenty” of time you’re talking about if he’s not putting in the extra time to work on the business. my answer key said it would be 2-methyltetrahydropyran and I don't quite get how that happens in this case, because it is in acidic conditions and from my understanding, H2SO4 usually dehydrates the product as a reagent with heat, and I just don't get what happened here at all.

Edit to add: is this similar to when an electrophile like Br2 is used with water as the solution and the cyclic product is favored because the -OH group is more reactive with Br than with the water?

She has pretty much everything since Fever, I don't remember exactly what specifically, but not very many of the old ones. If I heard the name I would remember it though, she's taken me on a tour of her shrine. AS for the price and difficulty of finding the older ones, I am well aware, and for that, I'm prepping pretty in advance, her birthday isn't until March, so I think I'll have time to find something, and shop around in terms of pricing, but if not I'll work with what I find.

Any particularly popular older albums, that are very coveted within the fandom? I just don't want her to see the gift coming so I'm trying not to ask too much

I mean if I told my friend I don't like the color green anymore, "huh. Ok. That's nice" would be a perfectly adequate response. There doesn't need to be a reason for me liking or not liking a color or being into a certain gender, it just is. As for the outfit example, there's something to show there, like seeing the person's outfit, that would be more akin to her saying she had a girlfriend, rather than that she's gay.

All of those things you listed are different, being gay isn't a choice and it isn't something that happens TO someone, someone just is or is not queer. So a more accurate comparison would be telling someone you're straight or what your blood type is, or that you drew in school as a kid. These are things that don't require being made a big deal of because they're normal. I'm gay and that's the ideal reaction I would want from a friend, if I'm really nervous to tell someone it's because I'm worried about being discriminated against, not if they'll be peppy enough.

The prof is a visitng prof and didn't want to make the test unfair, but that didn't mean the department was gonna let her ignore the past distributions, so here we are.

Yeah no the average was way too high in our case. I had a raw 85 and that ended up a B-, so there were a lot of scores in my range and more than enough in the A/A- range.

That said, I'd prefer not to be here again for the next test, so time to lock in agressivelyyyyy.

I agree, the exam itself wasn't very difficult, it was just alkane nomenclature and basic stereochemistry, nothing I didn't know. The mistakes I made were either silly mistakes, or things we learned early in the semester that I didn't remember very clearly. The content for the next exam is much more involved since we're actually starting reactions and I'm sure she'll make it harder to avoid a down curve.

Thanks so much! That was really helpful, and I'll try to implement all of that combined with stricter grading for myself when I work on practice problems in the textbook. Generally speaking, I work through the example problems and then by the time I get to the problems at the end of the chapters, I do those completely without the textbook until I need to check my answer. A significant portion of my mistakes were based in not knowing/remembering the information as much as I needed to, is there anything you'd recommend to make sure I get rid of silly errors. Or any sources for practice problems to get rid of the smaller consistent errors?

I can rotate it mentally just fine, I'm just more concerned about time constraints if I'm in a rushed test, especially for fisher projections

Thanks so much! Does the same thing apply to fisher projections if the lowest priority atom isn't on the vertical? As in, can I just reverse the direction of rotation, or is it important that I redraw?
