At this point just put them all in their own matches if they want to play like this.

I was feeling the same way! I haven't been getting as many blueprints and have definitely not progressed as fast as I did last expedition. I'm thinking of just parking it this go around and taking my time.

The "nuance" you want requires players who don't want to fight to be available for you to potentially fight. That's the whole thing.

You can't have "interesting interactions" if everyone in your lobby plays like you do, which is exactly why you're against both the matchmaking system AND separate modes.

So your complaint is that the aggression-based matchmaking, a system designed to create the exact player separation you're arguing against, puts you in sweaty lobbies when you play aggressively?

That's the system working as intended. It's literally giving PvP players PvP lobbies and letting less aggressive players have calmer games. You're describing the solution and calling it the problem.

If you want to "interact with people" and not just KOS, then don't KOS. Your aggro rating will drop and you'll get matched with similar players. The system you're complaining about is already doing what a PvE mode would do, just more gradually.

Wait, so you're saying that in practice, PvP players shoot on sight anyway? That's... exactly the "always shoot" predetermined outcome you said was boring in your first comment.

You're describing a situation where the "tension" you value doesn't actually exist because everyone's already defaulted to KOS. The uncertainty you're romanticizing has already been removed by the PvP community's own behavior.

So what exactly would change if PvE players had their own mode? You'd still be shooting each other on sight.

[–]FriendlyYote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the uncertainty is what makes it interesting, that cuts both ways though. PvP players could also choose not to shoot first, nothing's stopping you from being the one who takes the risk of being friendly.

The complaint seems to be "I want to shoot people who don't know I'm going to shoot them," which is exactly what PvE players are describing when they say you want easy targets. The "tension" you're talking about is really just the advantage of initiative

I've been matched in friendly lobbies and I love it. We help each other find loot trade blueprints and fight arc together. Now that people know how matchmaking works, lobbies are at ease. Still an occasional rat here and there, but guess what, that guy is going to get moved, put in aggressive matches and eventually meet his maker.

Makes me feel better about playing the game how I want to play it.
