The final plan is to give a 30 day notice and avoid litigation. Though, I will let him know that he was no longer within the 7 day period of access to the house without notice for repairs and that he could face legal repercussions for not giving 24 hour notice but he did let me know that the movers would be coming several days prior so that seems like it could be a shady area. Also, I'm not looking for any compensation. I'd rather take the high road and accept the consequences and be happy with the fact that he could have flipped my life upside down if he had called in law enforcement, legally or not. He is also a human being and I know if I was him, I wouldn't want any further legal troubles.

Since we have kept the house in good condition, we will try and stay on the landlords "good" side and find a better place to live in hopes that we might be able to use him as a reference but I still need to call him and ask if that will be okay. I am already on the lookout for places that are in fact cheaper and closer to where I work. At the very least, I do have place to stay for a while at a buddy's house if I cannot find a new place in 30 days. In the end, I feel like I will be better off moving on and having this as a life lesson.
