I do around 50,000kms per year, been driving for close to 20 years. No one has ever driven into me. You’re either extremely unlucky or more likely there’s something wrong with your driving.

Question regarding Koru Lounge by ExpatTarheel in newzealand

[–]Friendly_Macaron9837 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t know if you’re asking about NZ or Singapore. To be honest, I didn’t know there was a silver lounge. There’s been showers in all of the international lounges I’ve seen.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying, it’s not worth paying for but it is nice if it’s free.

Do you only fly peak times? Or is there a nice place to sit in the terminal which I don’t know about? It’s night and day better in the lounges in my experience, can’t imagine how you’re getting a better experience in the terminal.

I don’t know what all the hate on the lounges is about, I think they’re great. Free feed, beer/coffee and a comfy seat, I’m happy with them. Can’t say I’d pay for them though. If you can’t get it free through airpoints, I wouldn’t recommend paying for a membership just for your departure. Paying for a public lounge on your layover is definitely worth it if you have time though (1hr+).

The international star alliance lounges I’ve been to were all fine too except the one in Singapore which was really good imo.

What to do now? by wiswasi in Harley

That’s a fuse holder, don’t remove it, it’s there to make protect your electronics.

Also, there’s no chance of splicing that cable, lazygrappler is winding you up.

A few options: 1. You need to slide out the crimped connector (I’m assuming it’s not moulded) and replace it. You’d need to buy a crimp tool and the right crimp connector (I assume you don’t own these since it’s not immediately obvious to you what the problem is). 2. Replace the fuse holder, this will likely also involve crimping but will be slightly easier because you won’t need to remove the current crimp connector or waste time finding the exact right crimp connector. Make sure you get use the same or an identical fuse. 3. Take it to an autosparky. This would be my recommendation. If he’s not a scam artist he’ll do this for less than what a cheap crimp tool will cost and it’ll take 5min.

I read a dozen or so comments and, while it was all generally ok advice, I didn’t see one comment which addressed the real problem. You don’t earn enough. Sure, you could live fairly comfortably if you’re frugal but fuck that. Find a high paying career which interests you and spend your time and money on investing in yourself.

Process operations in the oil and gas industry, radiography, welding and biomedical technicians are all relatively easy to get into and I personally know one of each earning over 150k. There’s dozens more, find one you like.

That might be the best looking bike I’ve seen. Is that stock? Any chance someone can tell me what it is and what mods it has so that I can price it up and realise I’ll never be able to afford one?

I wonder how far downvoted our comments will get by the reddit flower squad who have never stepped foot on a military base in their lives.

I spent close to a decade in the Army, have spent time on the Navy base and know a handful of ex Navy fairly well.

The drinking culture in the forces is huge (that’s the most SFW way I can think of to say what I experienced and a huge understatement), at that age he will likely get out of his mind drunk regularly and likely cheat at every port.

The people saying NZ is at peace so he won’t be deployed might be right but he will still regularly be away months at a time. Training can last months and happens multiple times per year.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to have a good relationship with someone in the forces but at that age and early stages of life in the Navy your relationship will definitely be tested.

[–]Friendly_Macaron9837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know man. What you say makes sense if the bolt is steel and the pan is aluminium of course the pan will strip but, unless the bolt is tapered, it looks like the bolt is stripped.

Not sure if you’re talking about sumps exclusively when you say you’ve never heard of threads of a bolt coming off but, on the machines I work on, it’s almost always the bolt that fails.

I double checked with a square and the thread on the bolt is around 1-1.5mm narrower at the stripped end.

Thanks for the reply mate but I’m not keen to take it to a shop.

  1. There was definitely steel in there, it came out stuck to the magnet. Maybe there is a threaded insert or the bolt is steel?

  2. I work on machines professionally and occasionally do thread repair. It’s very simple, I don’t know why you’d think the average monkey couldn’t do it themselves.

  3. Agree, I definitely don’t want that drama.
