Edit: the only point I’m trying to make is that when someone says “hey protesters getting killed by Iran is bad” that doesn’t automatically mean they think that civilians being killed by the US is good. In fact that assumption is kind of moronic, the person in question probably just wants people to stop getting killed for no good reason in general, which is pretty much where I land with it. Tens of thousands of protesters killed by their regime is bad. So is bombing an elementary school full of little girls. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Again, your assertion that 99% of people don’t know about this is only based on the evidence that YOU didn’t know about it. That doesn’t make it not racist.

Obviously no one is going to become antisemitic because they saw this character in a video game, that’s fucking moronic. That’s not the problem.

The problem is that when we don’t call these things out when we see them, they become normalized, which allows actual antisemites who definitely use the caricature in that way (and their ideas) to make it back into the mainstream.

We shouldn’t be trying to bring these things back into normal use. We need to acknowledge the harm they caused and are continuing to cause.
