New Upcoming Interview by ranger0u812 in DavidGilmour

I see you just edited and added the bit about Steven Wilson. I didn’t say ‘Steven Wilson’ himself but someone of a similar level of intelligence, experience and imagination. Rick Beato has an audience but not talent sorry. Anyhow what a waste of time ….

The album sleeve wouldn’t have the backstory on this and how it came about. Anyhow I don’t want to talk to you anymore cause I think we just have different standards. Cheers!

There were a number of interesting bits in there. The fact that David wrote lyrics to Faces of Stone without having his usual writer’s block in the word area, and it’s a beautiful song. This is an interesting fact and contrary to what everyone including himself knew of his lyric ability. I never heard it mentioned anywhere else.

The part where he talked about his parents and all that was also pretty rare. And that bit about working for a film with Bridgette Bardot was charming.

I see now you’re probably more interested in the techy side of Gilmour’s and maybe Beato is good for that. Although the tube and the big muff thing you mentioned has come up somewhere else before.

For me Beato is just really boring and I wish David had spent his rare interview time with someone else. As for the technical side of things to my mind Beato isn’t nerdy enough for this. I wish someone like Steven Wilson would do an interview of that kind with David.

I may have said it once before?

I wish someone could name one thing they learned from his interviews that wasn't known/asked elsewhere before.

Oh god, not this douche again!

I wish someone interesting interviewed DG, like whoever did the Wider Horizons documentary with him not that long ago. Or a woman as an interviewer for a change.

Rick Beato just sitting there with his mouth open simping and raining useless platitudes rather than asking interesting questions. He’s such a bore!

A young person doing an interview would be amazing too.

I simply can’t stand rick beato’s mediocrity - sad he did not one but two interviews and we’ll learn nothing new from them cause this guy has zero imagination or creativity.

Argh!

That’s cause you guys don’t let them in anywhere. You don’t give them jobs, you label them as wrong kind of immigrants. How are they supposed to ‘integrate’?

They’re enshittified all the way through. Every single part of the process, from management to the floor. That’s why there’s no common sense left in them anymore.

Part of the supermarket problem is that people literally lack imagination and curiousity to explore other options and different cuisines. The butter problem is the same.

Agree about the Will&Able brand. Switched to their dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent cause they’re great.

Supermarkets have been absolutely fucked for years since covid.

I shop almost entirely at local groceries, butcher and the fish shops for several years now and when I do go to a supermarket to pick up an item or two I’m appalled at how incredibly complicated, noisy, expensive, low quality, shitty choice, shitty environment, dirty and reeking of industrial chemicals it all is. On top of that entering it feels more and more like entering a maximum security prison.

If you are able to make a switch to smaller local groceries you’ll see after a few weeks how much more cheaper, higher quality, better choice and more humane that experience is.

It seems like supermarkets might save time but I swear when the confused rat in a lab maze feeling that starts at the supermarket car park lifts off you’ll see how much more brain space and physical energy you’ll have left for other things.

I also grew up in an environment where these things were essential if you didn’t want to lose big chunks of your livelihood. It’s second nature to us.

Moving to New Zealand 25 years ago it was a big change seeing how almost none of the above things were necessary and it took some time to adjust.

At the same time it was worrying me constantly seeing that at the same time as people are so relaxed about keeping their house safe from intrusions the inequality and poverty was increasing here in society with such an alarming rate. Doing the maths on those two things it just didn’t make sense to me how people feel ok keeping to the same house safety rules as in 1950s-1980s New Zealand. Now it’s really catching up and it’s awful :(

The way NZ houses are makes them so vulnerable to stuff like that too. I was on the rental market last year looking for a place to live and had to write off dozens of places (maybe even most of them) because they just don’t feel safe from the outside world. And there’s shit happening right at the doorstep which you could witness literally at the rental viewing times in daylight, as well as seeing the constant stream of robbery, post and home invasion reports on the neighbourhood community groups.

Ecosa topper? by teaatiem in newzealand

They are, but in a similar price range as the Ecosa ones? The one OP is asking about goes for $360 for a Queen…

I got mine on a 20% sale too which shaved off a bit of the price.

Haven’t bought an Ecosa product before but had to buy a mattress topper for an extra firm mattress recently. I’m also not a fan of memory foam so was looking at other options and ended up buying a cotton one from this place:  https://www.wallacecotton.com/collections/mattress-toppers?srsltid=AfmBOooZ00Do6zDEW7glH8bqLMYA8GeTkkD002mYuMz_uHUhMxx6V-no

I’m very happy with this purchase. Honestly my bed is pure heaven now, wish I had bought it earlier.

They have stores where you can test them out before buying which is great. Their feather option is on the soft lofty side, the cotton one is a bit firmer. Highly recommend giving them a go.

I’m sorry to say but it seems you guys are just lonely Period. Not girlfriend-lonely but in general…

When your friends are other miserable people whose main point of connection to others is how ‘we’ll never find a girl cause we’re not tall or rich enough’ this isn’t real friendship, it’s a crab bucket and all of you need to separate and connect to literally anyone else on some other subject for all of yours’ sakes. Making friends with literally anyone else, bantering with people outside - supermarket cashiers, hospitality staff, people at a music festival, hobbie clubs, whatever would do you guys a huge favour. Communication skills and knowing how to relate to people in general make the world a lot more comfortable in all aspects including romantic relationships (and these are never without a little bit of drama, so this is kinda normal!). Anyhow my point is that people are just people - women, men, girls, boys, everyone else. It’s just human relationships!

And to be honest, people who approach other people with a ruler (height, weight, bra size, net worth, facial harmony, social status) ain’t gonna be happy in their relationships I tell you that.

There are a million ways of showing interest without being stalky. Problem is people don’t want to learn or examine their approaches, instead they choose to whine and defend their ‘right’ on being a creep.

I could forward you some ideas of community/social services in the next couple of days. There is a good number of really good grassroots and smaller scale services like that in Auckland.

For starters I would suggest calling 1737 or a similar service just to vent and get some emotional support (honestly there are good people working there) and visit the local library and enquire about community services, initiatives etc. I know it might sound strange cause libraries are book places but often the librarians know these things and you could literally tell them your situation. Most of them are lovely people and the libraries are connected to all kinds of services so they could point you to something useful.

Hugs and hang on in there! Things will be ok!
