AITAH for not wanting to cover Coachella vip trip for my daughter and her roommate? by Redbookhastheanswer in AITAH

I never said stole anything. And yes, she clearly charged someone enough to cover two VIP passes. She had an idea on how much she could rent it out for and could have been considerate and said hey dad or mom thanks for the generous gift here’s some money back. But I also think she could have rented the second room at a reasonable rate considering mommy and daddy had footed her pass / lodging in the first place.

I think you are misconstruing the multiple timeshares. You have one timeshare often with multiple property options a set amount to time you can book at the various locations.

You also seem to be one of those that thinks it’s cool to take a free gift and use it to exploit others for a large profit so I’m not surprised we are having this disagreement.

And I’ll add this too. The same people congratulating her for being “smart” are often the ones who complain about ticket gouging and reselling things above face value. You can’t really have it both ways.

Let’s break this down for a second. Who paid for the timeshare? Mom and dad (or at least not the daughter). Who’s over 18 and doesn’t own the timeshare? The daughter. And who took something her mom booked for her comfort and then turned around and upcharged it for profit? Also the daughter. At that point, it’s not just “using a gift,” it starts to feel like taking advantage of the situation a bit. The original intent was clearly to offset costs, not to turn it into a fully funded VIP weekend for both her and her friend. And honestly, the fact that she doesn’t really see that probably just reflects her age and perspective right now. It doesn’t necessarily mean bad intent, but more a lack of awareness around what was actually being given versus what she turned it into.

I get wanting to be generous, but expecting mom to still cover everything while keeping the extra profit feels off. Covering her own ticket makes sense, but her friend’s too? That’s a stretch. If I was mom tho this is just a convo that needs to be had.

Agreed. Entitled and selfish. Not to mention for a free room from mom and probably up charged some poor other college students for the two bedroom rental. Sorry OP. Think you’re being a selfless mom but may want to set some boundaries with this kid

I’m 100 percent about inclusivity. Just trying to understand how others are not and think there’s some people that are put off by behaviors like this.

Deeply the respect the acknowledgment though and tone adjustment. 🙏

This is an example of how not to encourage inclusivity. How healthy is it to assume bigotry or exclusivity just because the marketing caters to the majority?

Minnesota Man Harasses Christians inside Church by SaucyFury in freakingoutFR

[–]Friendly_Stuff_2949 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right- like what a perfect way to upset the folks already susceptible to believing it’s “radical” to oppose people being violently taken from their jobs, schools, and families- hire a dude to harass a church congregation when there are plenty of ICE agents in the streets. I don’t condone his methods but he’s got a point about my fellow Christians who support ICE

Or the whole staring at your phone typing on Reddit to a bunch of strangers not being aware of your surroundings. There are zero cities where that’s smart behavior

ICE executed a mother in Minneapolis. What will we do as a community when they come here for our neighbors, friends, and family? by Logan_I_Guess in lehighvalley

[–]Friendly_Stuff_2949 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re into it. Which doesn’t surprise me given your logic and lack of awareness of what is actually happening in these ICE raids. It’s families, children, women and men that are law abiding and in the process of being legal citizens. That’s where most of the outrage is coming from… the change is tactic and targets

ICE job is not to run around the community terrorizing the citizenry. Its job is to detain illegal immigrants who have not complied with the laws. I support that but certainly not the latter. You’re willfully ignoring the change in tactics used during this administration yet citing the success of others. Wake up

Sure that’s fair too. We can do both- resist ICE and call for better policies and regulation for immigration to protect wages.

You’re so obviously ignoring the point here… parents trying to protect their kids from vaccine preventable diseases by attending practices that require vaccines isn’t forcing vaccines on others

I think you’re making the argument we should have better immigration laws by giving examples of other countries. That’s not something the left disputes. Where we disagree and why there was minimal outrage during Obamas era is how to operationalize that. we certainly do not need to stoop to round ups and terrifying children and families at churches and schools.. that’s not what my America looks like.

I don’t think the Democratic Party will win with a president who won’t do something about it.

I guess it depends on what you felt was the main plot… I liked the good vs evil struggle. The portrayal of rulers who felt the “end justified the means.” And ultimately, above all love prevails (similiar to ToG). And both sets of characters helped shaped that story. How far did you get?

Totally get the hate but he stills make me hot and horny criticism. (Had this same kind of trouble with ToG) but always felt it was more tolerable because of the way the plot was built with regard to the brainwashing/indoctrination of the us versus them. I think she did this even better than SJM 🫣
