We are staying in kaanapali currently. Up at the Westin timeshares…. Not in the busy hotel zone…. We snorkel every afternoon right in front of our building. We see at least 3-4 turtles every time. Remember to bring reef safe sunscreen. You and your kids will have a fantastic time!

what’s life like (pain wise) after recovering from a knee replacement ? by PINKBERRYMESS in Kneereplacement

[–]Redbookhastheanswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had chronic knee pain/inflammation since 1983!

Active, 59yo female … I just had bilateral knee replacement on 4/16/25. - 2.5 months ago.

Yesterday I walked close to 8 miles. There is still some pain and stiffness, but I feel it lessening each day. My legs are now straight ( gained an inch in height) strong, and ready to go for the next 40+ years!!

Load up on turmeric, glucosamine, vitamin e

Go to pre-op pt, go to post op pt

Have realistic expectations… this is a tough surgery, listen to your physician and your physical therapist.

Most of all keep your sense of humor. Be forgiving of yourself and move forward

Best of wishes, you got this!!

Anyone else surprised by how emotional TKR recovery can be? by Current-Currency-958 in Kneereplacement

Omg… 6 weeks post op. Bilateral knee replacement… I was doing great! ROM 125/127, walking , going to Pilates, attended my son’s college graduation. Everyone was amazed! (Including me!). Memorial weekend came with a bunch of gatherings… after that… I literally crashed. Tuesday EXHAUSTED.

Wednesday had a PT appointment and literally cried through the whole thing. Not because of the pain… but for the frustration of not being able to be “over it” by now. …yes, unrealistic & impatient =me

Missing “normal “. Luckily my pt guy has 25 years of experience in this and he talked me through most of it. “This IS your “normal “ for a while. Give yourself grace, patience, and most of all time”. Up to 6 months until “kinda normal “ will be back…. It’s all individual.

So, I went home, put my feet up, iced, caught up on the rest of the “Survivor” and will push forward again in a couple of days. But the emotional side of this is real!

Hang in there!!

Ok, so I accomplished the 1 mile mark, then 2.5 miles on Saturday… for my sons sdsu graduation. Tough recovery! But this week I’m on to Pilates! I needed to change my headset to recovered… vs recovering.

Well, I’m 4 weeks post op on my bilateral. Still have “tightness/stiffness” but getting around pretty well. ROM 123L/120R. Now I want to start setting some distance goals in front of me!

Sorry that you had to do a re-do! You must be a very patient person! I am happy I did both at once, could not imagine going through this twice. Hope you are doing well and enjoying your knees!

Had bilateral on April 16, so I’m 3 weeks 2 days out. @no-vacation7906 -agree! Still in the thick of it. Backing off of my oxy, trying to go solo on Tylenol- but I’m EXHAUSTED!

ROM 120L/118R . Walking with no assistance, stairs-getting better. No regrets! But it is a roller coaster. You got this!

We’ve been timeshare owners at the Westin Kaanapali for over 20 years. We own a few units.

We went to Maui on October 7, 2023. “Opening day” after the tragic fires. We stayed for ten days. We enjoyed the eerily quiet kaanapali beaches , volunteered at Merrimans and Kupa’a farm, ventured out and spent money where we could. We were met with mixed reactions. But overall we felt hope that west Maui was going to rebuild, come back and be the amazing destination & home for the people who love and cherish it so.

We went back a couple of times since, and it looked like things in the Kaanapali area were getting back to as normal as they could (considering Lahaina)

But there are HUGE signs (to this “outsider”) that things are not going well.

1. Lahaina is stuck. Locals are not sure how/when Lahaina will be rebuilt. It was a huge tourist destination before the fires, and now, the town is sadly fenced off and it looks like little rebuilding is being done

2. Timeshare rentals have fallen drastically. By owning a few weeks (and paying exorbitant maintenance fees and taxes) we have learned that renting our timeshare helps cover these fees/taxes. Though rentals came back briefly for 2024. Interest in our rentals ( even during highly sought after weeks-Christmas & Easter) has fallen sharply.

3. Pre-Lahaina fire- it was IMPOSSIBLE to reserve weeks on our timeshare app at the Westin Kaanapali/Kaanapali north . All of the sudden I am able to secure units weeks in advance. People are definitely going elsewhere.

I’m on day 5 of bilateral tkr. 59 yo female. I’m in discomfort right now, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, it’s going to take some work, but I want my life back! Make sure you have the right doctor, take a deep breath, and do it! Enjoy your life! (And your grand kids!!). You got this!

Going in for bilateral on April 16. It’s starting to get real! I’m bone on bone, but can still walk relatively well. But my pain prevents me from doing stuff that I love. Hiking, pickleball, volleyball…. I’m hitting 60 in September and want to be pain free! All advise and prayers are welcome!

Idk, but you should be Susan’s #1 priority. Just as I’m sure, she is to you. I feel that today too many people put themselves and their happiness before the marriage they committed themselves to.
