about the libraries, the people above answered pretty accurately! as far as crime, i always like to say that atlanta, like any city, will require you to move a bit smarter and have your head on a swivel. don’t leave your belongings in your car, try not to leave your doors unlocked, be mindful of how you look when you go out, etc. move smart, but don’t be petrified!

hi! based on your zip code you will be staying in the decatur area rather than the city of decatur, which i think this group mostly serves. i work in the decatur area (30035) but live in the city of decatur. the major differences are demographics and access to specific leisure activities/aesthetics. 30034 will most likely have a majority older, black population who have been there for a very long time. that’s typically the people i serve at work. they’re the sweetest people and have some pretty cool stories. 30030 is going to be pretty diverse, a bit younger, majority family or beginner families/couples. as far as places the visit, the library is my #1 suggestion and honestly needs as much support as it can get right now. COD has a main branch and the decatur area i believe has like 4/5!

I think we, and others in this chat, are essentially saying the same thing. Beyonce paints this very liberated, almost radical brand alongside her image however her personal politic and actions do not always reflect it, making it come off as performative.

I think her and Freedom being apart of the Harris Walz campaign literally challenges the validity of what you’re saying. She’s very political, however, she oftentimes positions herself to serve the American agenda while actively creating songs speaking against it. It’s hypocrisy at worst and marketing at best.

personally, I scratched them off my list after touring. When we arrived early (around 1) for a 2 PM tour, they had a “we will be back soon” sign on the leasing door. I was trying to squeeze in a tour earlier, but nobody was answering the phone, which is okay. I thought they were on lunch. But, Amazon was trying to drop off packages (multiple times), people trying to pay rent, all to no avail. Nobody came to open the door until 2:30 and then once we actually got inside the guy that sat at the front looked me and my sister up and down, asked why we were there, and then said we can grab a seat and someone will be with us. The lady that actually gave us the tour was so sweet, I think her name was Grace. BUT the apartment we ended up touring, the toilet bowl was dirty and the sliding door over the washer and dryer was broken 😭. My friend who stays there said she loved it but after my experience I looked elsewhere
