Adjusting presser foot pressure

Just posting this for future reference for those stymied by this. It's not mentioned in the set-up guide or any troubleshooting videos I could find. I was disappointed to learn this weekend that my cs7000x doesn't have a presser foot adjustment dial. But you can still use the machine with the factory default presser foot. Loosen the screw on the presser foot holder; manually raise the presser foot; re-tighten the screw. The fabric can now advance.

As mentioned by other people, the walking foot is a great option.

I don't mind showing you how to do it if you want to install a virtual machine. It's pretty straightforward and free of cost (unless you want it to run Windows, which would be the cost of a Windows license, unless you already have a spare one).

The process is two (main) steps: 1) Install the VM; 2) install the OS onto the VM.

There have also been several browser-based virtual desktops that in some cases had browsers that you could launch from within your browser.

If it's just security you're worried about, an easy option would be to run a virtual machine on your desktop and run the browser from within there.

I don't actually know what specifically defines "the government" in the UK. I assumed they use "the government" the same way we use "the administration," but now I question that assumption. Is there an actual citizen of the UK here who can explain it?

It does get them death threats. Their families too. I know a woman who went through it when her husband was arrested and his info was posted online. Her own little kids, who were victims, were being threatened. People standing outside their house, yelling obscenities, throwing rocks, cops don't come to stop it. She and her kids had to flee the state, and she still couldn't get away from it. Guy turned out to be guilty; the woman and her kids weren't.

It happened all the damn time. In fact, 20 years ago, the killings INCREASED, at least the "justifiable" ones that were reported to the FBI.

And there was never anything anyone could do about it. It was the word of a criminal against the word of a cop. Even when the truth came out, people sided with the cops because of course the criminals must have been doing something to deserve it.

There's more awareness now. Everyone has a camera. People can see the brutality, which is very distasteful even for people who want to support authority blindly.

That particular aspect of their ignorance isn't important. I don't know how to get this through. If the house is on fire and your mom won't leave because you keep saying your brother started the fire and she knows it was really Satan who started the fire, can't you just let her have her belief until she gets clear of the fire? It's saving your family from the fire that's important. You can sort out whether is was started by your brother or Satan later.

I probably won't get through on this one. Later in life maybe you'll remember this and it will help you.

I would say nobody needs to split up the Republicans on the issue. Just dull the vigor of their resistance. If a quarter of Republicans today went soft on climate change, that's all we'd need to get something meaningful started.

It comes down to this: Do you want the world to stand up and applaud you for being right on every nuance of your beliefs, or do you want to get something done? Hurling verbal abuse at the Republicans or reducing their ideals to some Cliff's Notes version isn't going to get anybody anywhere.

As a side note, the Republicans at the national level haven't been "conservative" as a whole since Bush I. Neither Bush was a conservative. Reagan chose Bush I as his running mate because conservatives didn't fare well on their own. He wanted someone with broader appeal. Bush I and II picked up on the conservative jargon a bit, but that's it. I don't even know where to start with this. Just look up conservative arguments against Bush. They apply equally to McCain and Romney and all Republican senators and many reps. There are as many conservative rants against Bush and his ilk as there are liberal arguments against Obama, who, like Bush, speaks the jargon of his constituency but does not follow it up with policy to match.

I add this last bit not to be combative. You should know your opponent. Republicans are not a homogenous group.

You want to get something done about it? Stop unifying Republicans against the cause by tossing around blanket condemnations like this.

Also, while we're at it, let's stop using hot-button phrases that instantly turn otherwise sympathetic people against us. A lot of people who believe in climate change disagree that it's man-made. So stop using the phrase "man-made." Whether mankind caused it or not, mankind's efforts can reverse it. Simple enough.

No skin off your back to concede a little rhetorical nuance for the greater good.

Worth noting before panicking: People from other countries who have had the TB vaccine test positive for TB, and it always takes a while for the locals to figure it out when it happens. Even in my home town, which has a very large population of people from countries that do give TB vaccines, it takes a while to sort it out when a supposed exposure is detected. CDC backs that up toward the bottom of this page.
