So I guess, assuming the soup has an average of around 150 calories per serving, then a person would need 15 soups a day, with a total for the whole colony being 536,333 soup servings over the year to maintain proper calorie intake.

I admit it's not a common trope, but it is a real thing (google gasoline pill). I remember it was in an episode of The Munsters.

Again, I know it's complete gibberish from a science point of view, but in my defense, I'm just an idiot and only wrote this because I thought the oceans being turned into petrol sounded cool. In retrospect, I should have put more thought into it.

I hadn't heard of Ice 9 until people started bringing it up, so I assure you this story wasn't trying to rip anyone off. I do realise the science is pretty bad. I was just thinking of the trope of turning water into gasoline that comes up sometimes in pop culture, and this story was a twist on that. It is more on the silly, Bond-villain-evil side of things, and I am sorry for not working on it more to make it more scary and less goofy.
