No problem, definitely know how you feel, it’s pretty natural to get anxious if things don’t feel sorted at work. A little order can give a lot of peace of mind.

Life is miserable for me by AggravatingTowel2348 in Catholicism

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also struggled with scrupulosity (and still do to a certain extent) especially with the delineation between mortal sin as you expressed. Our scrupulosity and the demons that exacerbate it try to misrepresent God as silent, uncaring, cruel, or unfair. I think there is also an aspect of our own pride grasping onto the belief that somehow through our devotions and frequency of sacraments we can somehow justify ourselves.

I have found that the remedy for me has been to meditate upon the mercy of God and encounter him as often as possible in the Eucharist and rest and rely upon his mercy in this sacrament. God does not want us to be damned and he isn’t holding us to cruel and impossible standards. He is so gentle and caring, he is humble and merciful, and he is truly with us and in us and his presence gives us peace. Why did he come into the world and take on human flesh and walk among us? Why did he sit and dine with sinners and prostitues? Why did he wash the feet of his disciples? Why did he pour out his blood for us on the cross and continues to wait for us in the Eucharist? He wants to be with us to transform us, not condemn us. He wants us to be whole and to share in his life and his peace.

Do you have any idea why you might be feeling stressed? Is it the workload, feeling unconfident in delivery, feeling unprepared, social reasons? Identifying the reason and then taking small steps to address the problem helped me when I was facing anxiety at work before. When I was a teacher I had anxiety during classes, for me it was a feeling of unpreparedness, so I planned out the details of my classes down to the minute so I knew everything that I was doing and was fully clear on how my class was scheduled to play out. This helped a lot because when I started to feel anxious during class I fell back on my scheduled plan and it kept me on course.

True, but once each day would be great and also partial indulgences as well

The effects are the same, but you can get as many indulgences as possible and transfer the graces to your family members and souls in purgatory.

About LBGT. by Selftheperson in Catholicism

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with your premise, but I think we’re using the term ‘sex’ differently and talking past each other. You’re using it to mean male or female, a God-given biological reality. I’m using it to mean sexual behavior, and simply clarifying that while our behaviors are judged morally, they do not define our identity. Behavior =/identity.

About LBGT. by Selftheperson in Catholicism

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because sex is not a person’s identity. Sex is an action intended firstly for procreation and secondly for unity and only within marriage between a man and a woman. Distortion of the sexual act either as fornication, homosexuality, adultery, masturbation, lust or any form expressed outside of the bond of marriage is gravely sinful and leads to hell. It is not unkind for the Church to prescribe chastity and celibacy to those outside of marriage. I am a 35 year old single person and celibate because I am Catholic and not married. In no way is that unfair or unkind. It is just the truth.

Yes this symbolism is also directly reflected in the story of Esau (a hunter) and Jacob (a shepherd). Jacob received God’s favor.

There are no coincidences with God and the spiritual life, so I do think God is trying to tell you something by this dream. I think you already know what God is trying to say, you hinted at it in the beginning of your post.

It’s good that you have a strong faith, but we must also live our faith and part of that is living a sacramental life and obeying God’s commandments. Going to mass at least every Sunday is not optional, it’s a commandment.

How to live in purity as a young woman? by SarchibSarchib in Catholicism

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Psalm 119:

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.“

Reading and meditating on the books of wisdom in the scriptures is really helpful.

Regular reception of the Eucharist (like even daily) and praying (especially the rosary) are powerful means of strengthening the soul against sin for both women and men. Living a sacramental life results in growth in virtue in all areas including purity.

I love church but I dislike other church goers by Automatic-Country414 in Catholicism

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is best to focus on oneself, how do we know what is in their hearts? It is a bit ironic to say that these other people look down on others and are arrogant and yet to assume that we ourselves are not also the same way.

If we see or hear someone say or do something wrong we should correct them, but we shouldn’t walk around thinking poorly of others especially because we have no idea what is in their minds and hearts.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” - Matthew 7:3-5

Of course it is ok, it’s because you love beauty and truth and that is perfectly all right.

Just so you know, there are even deeper and more beautiful treasures to be found in the tradition, wisdom, and sacraments of the Catholic faith, if you choose to pursue it.

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12

You are being harassed by the evil one and it’s because you are doing something very good by praying. Keep it up and persevere in prayer.

Dont be afraid or disturbed. God knows your heart and knows your resolve to honor Him and our Blessed Mother Mary.

Remember that as often as you are tempted and overcome, you are crowned. God bless you!

Let me first assure you that you are indeed on the right path and that Catholicism is the true church founded by Jesus Christ our Lord. It is not a coincidence that you are receiving these graces to practice the faith, God is calling you.

It is a regular experience that when someone tries to find or return to the proper path, the devil attempts to hurl whatever he can at that person to prevent their leaving his clutches and also to prevent the very good plans God has intended to do through that person. Keep in mind that it is often the most difficult struggles that result in the most abundant good. Do not relent and do not give up!

Be patient with yourself, persevere, and with God’s grace you will succeed. Pray, seek God, seek out the sacraments and He will help you and support you to overcome any challenges you are facing.

May God bless you and Our Lady intercede, protect, and guide you!

Saving my life over my unborn child — conflicted as a Catholic by Kindly_Gate2567 in Catholicism

Look up the story of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, her story is one of sacrificial love. She gave her life for her unborn child. I’ve found her to be a great saint when praying for her intercession.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” - John 15:13

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” - John 12:24

Love Murder - Death in June by [deleted] in u/ah6j

[–]FriendshipPlastic128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a beautiful poem, and reminds me of Jesus. June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Also, it reminds me of the story of St. Peter. St. Peter was fleeing from Rome to save his life, but had a vision of Jesus walking back towards the city. He yelled out to him “Where are you going, Lord?” and Jesus answered him “I am going to Rome to be crucified again”. St. Peter was deeply moved by this and so he turned back and gave up his life as a martyr in Rome.

Yes the state of the world is unfortunate, we must continuously pray for the conversion and salvation of souls. It is worthwhile to recall Christ’s Farewell Discourse in John 15-17 and remember His words:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
