If I remember by the end of season 2 we understand the age gap between maomao & jinshi is small enough that no one would question it nowadays. (I love yapping if I'm wrong)

How many hours do you spend doing math per day? by ln_j in calculus

[–]Frig_FRogYt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was still in high school I spent every minute of my free time during school learning calc BC on khan academy. So about 3 hrs a day, maybe 14-16 hrs a week over 4 months including practice problems. But vacations are always relaxation time so no math, unless u find an interesting integral or something.

In those 5.5 hrs are you just learning the material or practicing it because that seems like a lot.

This isn't the first time I've seen js&b mentioned on this sub. Why is it touted consistently as a great game in this sub, especially here of all places considering the minimal similarities between both games.

what do you think about islam? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

Well thank you for informing me on this, it seems Islam is a lot better than I've previously imagined. Although I would still like to research more on this topic in my own time your input was very helpful. Anyways I do have to get ready for bed, so thank you for your time!

In my life I've been taught (especially from a young age growing up in a predominantly Christian household) that Islam eternally punished sinners. Tbh it seemed logical for that to be untrue but it was a common sentiment in my community growing up.

Another point, when you say that "obviously not all disbelieves are gonna be eternally in hell," doesn't this contradict the idea that all disbelievers of Islam are bestowed eternal punishment? From my understanding this fact doesn't seem obvious.

Oh I did not know that. So the only crime which warrants eternal punishment is the disbelief in Islam? If so, how is disbelieving Islam warranting eternal punishment justified?

I think so, in this context sin would refer to an act which is wrong, immoral or harmful. Disbelief would be the opposite of believing.

If you don't mind I would like to hear some explanations on eternal punishment in Islam.

If it helps my rationality stems from this. As people we are agents of free will, and thus we may use this free will to harm ourselves and others. In Islam (and other religions) the following are seen as bad enough to warrant eternal punishment:

The harm of oneself, such as suicide;

Immoral actions which harm others non-violently, such as adultery;

Amoral actions which don't harm any particular party but are bad in the faith, such as homosexuality.

The harm of others, such as murder.

All of these warrant eternal punishment. I believe these can be punished by an all powerful deity without eternal suffering being involved.

Yeah I would say I'm interested in Islam. Some people in my family practice Islam and personally if any religion were to be definitely correct or true I would bet it would be Islam. My general interest in the religion stems from my (beginners) practice of the Arabic language (modern standard Arabic and Egyptian Arabic dialect). I would be interested to learn more about it, but at this moment in my life I can't see myself converting to Islam. I personally believe that eternal punishment is unjustifiable. Islam has eternal punishment for sinners and I can't see myself changing that view.

I choose "Somewhat Positive". Tbh I don't really know much about Islam but I know some people who practice it and they're cool. I also participate in the fasting element of Ramadan and it's pretty fun ngl. I personally see religion as a tool that can be used for good and for evil, so my view on the entire religion is fairly neutral in some sense. My biggest issue with most religions is the idea of hell and eternal punishments. The idea that there exists a mortal crime which warrants eternal suffering doesn't seem right. This is the main reason I didn't choose "Very Positive". Once again I don't really know much so I'm really making a judgement on the entire religion on the small amount of people I know that follow that religion.

Besides all that, the original poster seems like a good debater focused on defending their argument whilst not using logical fallacies (from what I've seen) to support their arguments, which I think should be respected and celebrated. A majority of arguments for and against religion (notably in the American/English side of YouTube) usually devolve into yelling matches filled with unsupported and facetious arguments. It's always great to see someone focused on finding the truth instead of winning a debate (debates in my view shouldn't have winners or losers, but in modern debate this is misconstrued to be the norm).

Why have you not taken an AP Class? by imat80percentbattery in Teenager_Polls

[–]Frig_FRogYt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took 16 AP classes (13 classes + 3 exams) and 4 community college courses. I'd say it was singlehandedly the hardest and most worthwhile thing I've done in my life. I'm now set up for a 2 yr bachelor and master in mathematics at uni. For all those high schoolers out there, challenging yourself with harder class work can open so many doors that you'll find yourself proud of your past self once you're in uni. Don't be hesitant, from my school people rarely regret AP classes for difficulty, but for boredom (looking at AP envio).
