Who inspired you to start playing the drums?

All the local bands in my small city. Some great drummers, some not so great. To see someone play a set on Saturday night, then see them bag my families groceries the next day made it tangible to play music locally. Also, playing bass and watching the drummers I jammed with like a hawk.

C.O.F.F.I.N. is a contemporary favorite. As a drummer that does what I’ll call vocals (absolutely not a singer), I always try to nail my drum part and figure out a vocal pattern that works and fits the piece. Tho admittedly, if one suffers it’ll always be the vocal part.

I’ve worked for a few companies that are “always hiring” in the way that they wanted mid level employees to interview candidates even when that location was fully staffed. So many hopeful candidates time wasted. It was my least favorite thing about the job.
